sure i understand that but not knowing what i said or done, and just saying hey ur getting a 7d bc you said something wrong x amount of days ago, you probably dont even remember what it was but here it is .
The the part Zenjy highlighted narrows it down pretty well.
while i get they stack overtime i still do feel like 7 days is steep.
While severity can cause a penalty to jump to the harsher consequences like license closure, it generally does not impact the normal social penalty tree. It does not matter if the individual offense is mild or not, if you have multiple you are assigned the penalty for whatever rung in the ladder you are at.
- 1st offense is a week Silence
- Second is a week Suspension
- Third is two weeks ish Suspension
- Etc up to license closure
Doing something illegal or a major violation can skip to the end, but even mild offenses are going to simply climb the ladder. It is black or white. Either the reported chat does break the rules, or it does not break the rules.
They are steeper now because the shorter penalties did not have the impact of stopping or deterring the unwanted chat behavior. Some people keep doing it - assuming that the consequences won’t be enough to bother them.
So, that is why we have longer penalties now. To get the attention of those who break the rules.
i understand this, but if the ticket of the ban had quotes of what i stated and what the situation was then i would fully understand the reasoning and change the way i chat ingame, but that is not including so its just a mystery of what that silver lining is on what is and isnt “correct” etiquette. ive been playing about 50+ hours past few weeks grinding this quest chain solo and have witnessed 10x more toxic things than ive ever said/done in the hives.
While we can assume good intentions this would be used almost entirely to try and game the system.
“oh you said I couldn’t say X but I said Y instead!”
Correct etiquette would not include insulting the intelligence of others in a video game. It’s not as nebulous as you are wanting it to be. Taking a second to think “is this rude?” can help prevent future actions for the same thing.
Then report. What others do has zero effect on your current situation.
You are not wrong. There used to be a tool that at least added some of the reported text to the email. The tool broke a while ago though and was just putting unrelated things into the email. It make it a lot more confusing! So, right now the email does not have the reported text.
It would be way better if it did, and I know CS would prefer that it did. The tools are just not working right now. The forums here are about the best shot you have at getting a description of what caused the penalty. Of course, they won’t directly quote something that breaks the rules - that would be a forum violation too. They can give you an idea though.
Just avoid insulting people. Keep that in your head, not through your fingers.
Yes. Please report them if you see that kind of behavior. This is a lot like speeding. Others speed too, and do worse things, but if you get pulled over you end up with a ticket. So will they if they get reported and a GM finds a violation.
It would help immensely, because atleast with my first silence in 2020, i knew it was due to me macroing LFG /2 etc for my Naxx raid. I still just feel like im beating a dead horse though because something just still feels wrong about it. and now i have to wait until Next tues to barely complete the scarab chain.
Your ticket has been answered, Lidondx.
thank you for the response, and clarification. looking back at it does seem toxic, and heat of the moment. Apologies for the forum post
Honestly, do you think any Blizzard employee, whether they are game masters, hacks team, even the forum moderation, really wants to suspend or ban people? Gotta understand, this is something Blizzard doesn’t really want to do, but there is policies they have to follow to ensure the game/s are safe and friendly for everyone. That is why there is an In-Game Code of Conduct. That is why there is penalties in regards to just being toxic within the game. We all have the duty to obey by the polocies that we all agree’d too when signing up , as well as during our times on any of the platforms, to ensure that the game stay safe and friendly for everyone. So everyone can feel good playing the game without worrying about having actions taken against them to miss out on playing the game.
The consequences are far greater as penalties do stack up. And it really isn’t worth the risk.
That is a known side effect of having humans review everything, it takes time.
