Technically speaking, if people are being encouraged to post there about their account action, that would be against the rules. If the purpose of the thread were to be how you’d like to see the rules change, then that would be okay.

What I mentioned wouldn’t constitute “automation” in terms of punishment. There are algorithms that are used to alert staff of whatever it is they were programmed to, but punishments are issued by GMs.

And your source is? Do you have an inside track to Blizzard GM department and know what policies are used?

Blizzard does have admin from a MMO from 1998 (Ultima Online) who I have become friends over playing on that MMO since it was in beta. Pre-T2A era.

Not sure if you ever played it, but it was a giant MMO back in its day

So I got to ask, and this is serious, do we have to run parses during BGs now. Let me explain to you why some people do very little to no damage in BGs. In particular AV.

You run to a tower. Sometimes you cap it. Sometimes you don’t. You literally have to stand in the tower or someone from the other team can just walk in and retake it causing you to lose the game. The problem is sometimes people from the other team show up. Other times they don’t. Its hard to know if they will or wont until it actually happens. So some games, yeah, you end up doing a whole lot of nothing but you were doing a job. Other times… they show up and you win… lose… or draw… and that is how it is.

It is totally INSANE to ban people for this. They were actually doing the BG. I won’t argue and say some people AFK. But I feel like the net is a little tight here. You have to do more than just look at damage and healing numbers and then slap 30 day bans on people. This is not acceptable. Look though MANY games. Is there dozens and dozens of games in a row of zero? Ok… we might have a problem. If 4 games they dont do anything then 2 they they do… wait a minute… sounds like objective based PVP is happening here!!!

I know that is harder to do. It takes more time. A bot cannot do it as easily. But guess what… you are ruining the launch of wotlk for a lot of people over this… and its just not right…

Get it right or reverse it.

Not to mention several official servers are still up with a huge population

This belongs in General Discussion. Customer Support does not design the game or make policy or decide what does or does not constitute non-participation. Customer Support follows the policies. The policies are made by the Devs. They do not take feedback/suggestions from the Customer Support forum and the SFAs here are not liaisons with them. Posting in Customer Support will not change any policies.

There is no way this is policy related. It has to be a bug or an issue with the system that caused this many people to get caught up.

If you think something is bugged, there’s a bug report forum. But there’s nothing will change from screaming from the rooftops about this will change anything. More to the point, the blues here have no means to look into everything related to this and they’re not link to someone whom handle account actions.
