Survival should be able to use Exotics as well

literally did used to dual wield way back when.

its a pointless and meaningless distinction in pets, a holdover mechanic that should have been pruned long ago.

Nah man. Exotic pets need to stay as BM only. Makes the spec unique in that way. Why do you want to take that away from them?

You know, I made the comment years ago when the new survival came into play that it’s what I thought was more ‘beast mastery’ feeling simply because you’re legit in there with your pet’s fighting fang and claw essentially… but mostly because I always looked at Rexxar as BM… with his gigantic pets and how he’s right in there as well with melee rather than strictly ranged play.

I remain pretty indifferent really, I don’t think the pet type (since they ALL been standardized into categories now and lost their uniqueness after BC and even more so after MoP… I enjoyed the quilen brez…) that it doesn’t REALLY matter who has what pets.

BM currently, as it stands, always increases a lot to do with the pets far more over what the other hunter specs get already and can summon a virtual zoo and dire beasts and other stuff.

I hate that the Hunter community itself keeps this meme from dying out despite it not being particularly relevant anymore.

No? Subtlety and Assassination are fairly thematically distinct, and there’s no need to suddenly turn one into a ranged spec. There are much better ways to give them a ranged spec than taking away from their existing specs.

I would like a devilsaur instead.
But a pack of raptors does sound pretty cool, tbh

glad we agree doolb

Not really a concern for me to be honest. I hate when classes are restricted for a “theme” or “silhouette” or other buzz words. I prefer classes to be standalone bases we can mold. And having not one, but TWO specs that require mandatory daggers seems extremely silly.
I mean they’re an assassin. I bet we can find multiple instances of an assassination using more than a dagger. At the very least a small explosion powered projectile should be usable.
Two specs, build around daggers, and both make heavy use of stealth mechanics. Bleh.

This isn’t about rogue though. I’m just trying to let survival stretch out their wings a little so live the class fantasy of fighting along side a pet they bonded with

Blizzard had their chance in Legion to give players a range class while take another. Combat could have been the stealth range spec, but Pirates were a better gimmick.

I know you’re not a rogue so just letting you know Sub rogue aoe is Black Powder “A finishing move that launches explosive black powder at all nearby enemies”

I have three rogues, one for each spec :joy:

A black powder bomb isn’t a long range sniper rifle now is it. And nothing is subtle about high explosives (but would make a good assassination attempt)

I misread your previous post as “powder“ like smoke/poison bomb, that’s on me.

But i agree a stealth archer would be a fun archetype. Sub being the “dark arts” would definitely be applicable as a ranged/stealth archer. The shadow magic finishers can easily roll over to ranged and it would add another spec to the gun/bow loot table. Leaving Assassination as the only agility dagger user would be awful though should make all daggers intellect/agility based on spec to compensate

You say this like it was the players and not the Devs that did that. Should the Devs allow it, you can both can have exotics. It wouldn’t be stealing if you both had it.

Hey just wanted to let you know, Blizzard officially canonizes that Survival Hunters are in fact closer to their pets than Beastmastery Hunters:

This direction felt more in-line with Survival’s fantasy of having a uniquely strong bond with a smaller suite of pets.

From the Blue Post about the Pack Leader changes: Feedback: Hunters - Undermine(d) PTR Discussion - US - Blue Tracker - World of Warcraft

Nope
If you want to have an exotic pet play BM, survival is already a bm clone these days lets not make it more obvious yeah?

pretty good stuff, now that theyre allowing us to change pet specs once again it should just boil down to cosmetic choice

Yup, that’s what I suggested as the main issue in my reply on this thread a month ago. Just having more choice fixes everyone’s problem, exotics remain as their own thing but the universal roster of beasts was already huge. Heck, just opening up the Cunning spec pets being viable in PVE now adds so much variety alone. Mechanicals!

Beastmaster shoulda been the melee spec which was based on rexxar. BUT FOR SOME REASON THEY HAD TO TURN HIM SURVIVAL.

he is Beastmaster Rexxar not Survivalmaster Rexxar.

thats his surname, Rexxar The Beastmaster or otherwise known as Rexxar T. Beastmaster

Didn’t they also base him off the Beastmaster Movie in a way?

I don’t think the main char Dar was called the survivalmaster either.

Dar also used a sword and not a bow. That means the Beastmaster at incept was wrong for being ranged.
