SURVIVAL: Enough Complaining, Let's Talks Solutions

Look man I’ve been saying it the whole time

The only real way to correct these class issues and get away from borrowed power is to just give us a damn talent tree back so we can have all those “boring” talents back they stitched the whole spec together

Unless you are a diehard raider/PvPer with a consistent group then your money is better spent playing the final patch only with all the bugs, glitches, and poor development corrected and catch up mechanisms in place.

Like I said I haven’t put too much investment in the actual implementation of it. For the hell of it, I’ll spitball some features to differentiate it.

  • Prioritizes range while keeping bleeds from shots and burns from explosive trap/shot
  • Rapid Fire like filler allowing for high mobility
  • Replace Disengage with a 2 charge roll that increases dodge by 25%
  • Trap Mastery : Tar - covers target in oil adding a burn effect once ignited
  • Maybe a melee window of some sort that increase dmg of your melee abilities

I like the idea of just moving some stuff around, and changing where, or providing an alternative to our focus regen. Whilst also giving us 1 new talent.

1. Make MB baseline. Replace current talent with something like ‘Rend Wound’. Rips at your target effected by any of your DoT effects, causing it to deal .2/.4/.6/ .8/1 second of the remaining damage depending on how X stacks of mongoose fury you have. That’d be a sick damage window and reward for maintaining a dot, and getting to 5 stacks.
2. Bring back a version of coordinated assault that provides a large chunk of focus back, replace SS with lacerate, and have it generate focus over time.
3. Bring back Waylay so SV hunters, ‘Master of traps’ is a legit master.

That’s literally it. I think that’d go a long way to making us feel a lot better. It’d help alleviate having your pet in the fray all the time, and almost dying. Whilst also smoothing out our focus regen, allowing us to enjoy our mongoose windows more and add a cool gameplay loop. Plus that talent sounds like it’d be super fun to me.

Instead of you noticing that I was responding to other people who were off topic, you chose to fixate on petty crap in a vane attempt to nitpick what I was saying - and you didn’t even do that right.

You’re not critical at all, you’re scatterbrained and completely fixated on the wrong things. You lose track of what I’m saying half the time and even your own point is lost on you. You’re doing it again with this whiny reply of yours.

You are childish, because you can’t admit you’re wrong. I’ve corrected you multiple times for basic reading comprehension mistakes, but instead of owning it or moving on, you keep trying to cover yourself.

Stick to the class discussion and break down your criticism about things I’ve said that relate to it. Stop wasting my time.

We do have a fair amount of trap talents and pvp talents, but I think there was a lot of frusteration in the past when traps were a significant part of our dps rotation. It just doesnt seem to work with the way encounters are designed in wow, so they got away from that.

That’s exactly the reason. Traps mechanically aren’t 100% foolproof and instanced mobs frequently are given immunity (or simply can’t trigger the trap) therefore making trapping part of a DPS rotation really hamstrings you and doesn’t really work in WoW.

I love shoot eagles !!

No one will ever play this garbage spec. Revert it to MoP/Wod iteration. RIP the most fun spec that existed in game, such a shame blizz destroyed it. I’d legit buy Shadowlands if it was added back in.

They made it into the most fun spec in game I think you mean

What about it didn’t work? Tossing an immolation/explosive trap into a pile of mobs to light them up stacked with a full spread of poison arrows from multi-shot was dope. Granted they had to up the damage, but it’s no different than Wild Spirits or Soulforged Embers are now, except that you don’t have a to waste a slot on a freaken legenardy just to get access to the latter.

Worked great in BGs too where people tried to take over flags. I don’t see the problem.

Agreed. I’ve become so bored that I’m testing out playing it with a bow now just to get the old gameplay back.

Delete It. Make Survival Survival Again. It was disgraceful how they destroyed the Survival spec.

Agreed, 100% What pissed me off the most was that they finally came out with some of the best traps and trap talents in Legion, only to trash the spec’s ranged combat. This ruined the spec because the whole purpose of exotic traps is to kite. MoP and Warlords of Draenor had it so much better.

I wanna see creative stuff like snake traps that apply all stings, or immolation traps that light people on fire and send them running around in panic for 3 seconds.

I’ve been Surv since BC and…when I think of Surv I think of, well Survivability.

I think of: traps (I miss Immo trap), poisons (both utility and damaging), and all-around hardiness. I don’t know how many times my frost trap saved a group or even wyvern sting back in the day when something would run at a healer.

But the traps, man. I miss that the most. Snake trap with all the little debuffs and dps, Explosive trap for some AoE…( what was even the point in giving us tar trap, anyway when we HAD an aoe debuff?) Trap launcher was my favorite ability and just being able to toss traps around to control my targets was so nice.

And I can get behind the melee/range hybrid with an emphasis on, again, staying alive.

Hell, my favorite character in the WoW universe has always been Rexxar so…I want THAT. He’s a surv hunter/engineer and that appeals to me. The melee change didn’t even bother me that much…the problem I have NOW is that me nor my pet is staying alive very well. AKA: WHEN is my spec going to actually help me right now? I was just about to come on here and say something about Exhilaration…it’s kind of useless, even WITH the talent.

Anyway, anyway…I’m all over the place but I guess i can feel the same frustration you do. BM I get. MM I get (the whole Ranger thing like Sylvanaas or Alleria) but Surv? Have they EVER known what they wanted us to do or look like? …After all these years i doubt it.

PS:

WHY is Serpent sting the ONLY poison we have, anyway? It says it right there in the description: favors animal venom.

Agree, traps are what made the spec so great. In classic and Burning Crusade the trap talents were what made them so effective. Back then Frost Trap was upgradable through talents to give a 25% chance to root the target every second they trudged through it, and it was a proper 60% slow that did the job right. I turned around so many Warsong matches with that when their flagger was trying to escape out the tunnel, or ours needed cover. Wyvern Sting would be key in arena fights now. Stuff like that transcends gear and make the class more intelligent.

I totally agree with wanting to see some creativity put into the traps and poisons. We’ve got some decent stings in game right now in the PvP talents but it’d be nice to Wyvern Sting back and an extra delivery system like Snake Trap, which would apply them all if someone walks through it.

Legion had a great idea with adding arming timers to traps. We got the same traps that we have through launching, but a bonus power if the trap took 2 seconds to arm and become more powerful. It gave us an edge of guile that this brainless spec has lost. I want to see some real penalties for people who walk into the traps after they’ve fully armed. It would add such a strong element to the game, people would fear that.

this post is garbage i like survival as melee if you want something else ask for a 4th spec instead of taking away something people like.

I cant stand the mix. I want it all melee, with a pet. and I want the attacks to look stylish. id love a fist of fury animation with a spear in one hand STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB. or the pally blood elf twirl in air flippy behind yer back looking move. I cant stand how awkward it feels to have yer spear, run into battle, pull out a freaking crossbow, then stab with yer spear, then pull out some grenades, then pull out yer spear… its so visually jarring, I hate it! and I want to love it so much! lol im ok having low numbers if im visually amazing! I play enhancement shaman. lol

I have no idea why people are so dedicated to these trap specs

Right now wildfire bomb is just immolation trap and explosive trap rolled into one ability with all of the clunkiness removed

Tar trap is still freezing trap, freezing trap is still their and if you wanted a solution you should be asking for chakrams to be replaced by snake trap

This thread isn’t about solutions, it’s a transparent complaint thread still

The only solutions we need for survival is to have a more defined niche carved out and making sure the numbers remain competitive with the other specs as well as providing something that they don’t have because survival is now melee
