MM needs ways to kite/deal with melee and get its damage off. Better sources of its damage too. Feels like you got no damage vs plate and getting breathing room with a DK or Warr around feels impossible.
Literally had one shuffle vs ret/war/dk and 0-6âd and stopped playing it. Being perma chains and gripped into zombie bombs or war perma sitting me every round just made it feel so awful to play. Then you do get some aimshots off and they hit for nothing on plate.
The only time its fun to play MM is when you can gleefully abuse cloth lobbies. Which all these buffs serve to accomplish is doing that even better while leaving MM still in a terrible position vs melee cleaves and plate classes.
Theoretically, marksman can kite melee better than any other spec in the game (except mages) if you talent into literally every kiting ability (consecutive concussion, explosive trap, short bursting shot talent + rangerâs finesse, etc).
The problem is that if you go that route, you donât actually have any globals to do any damage. Iâve tested this extensively. The short duration of concussive shot and our overall GCD time are the main factors at play here.
Even playing max haste, you still donât get any globals to get any damage off. A simple fix would be to increase the duration of concussive shot somehow for marksman. The mechanic in which steady shot increases its duration is a total non-factor; steady shot would have to be instant in order for this to be useful, and we would STILL be too global-starved even with this.
The best fix would be for consecutive concussion to increase the duration of concussive shot to 10 seconds, and reduce the GCDs on utility abilities like explosive trap and steel trap to .5 seconds, similar to ele shamans with their totems. That would enable marksman to kite and at least get a small number of damage globals off while going full kite-mode. Their damage would still be severely reduced while in kite-mode, but something is better than nothing.

As long as their survivability is brought down accordingly, damage buffs are fine. Hunters should be high mobility, high damage, low tankiness.
Every time I see a patch note âAll dmg increased/decreased by xâ I think theyâve seen a stats graph and are throwing buffs to make it go up, they donât exactly know what theyâre doing, theyâre just reacting to the data. âŚyour argument couldnât have been more accurateâŚthey just throw a buff in bm and buff mm in the worst possible way
Warriors canât use intimidating shout when silenced. Warriors are casters.
Its just not efficient global wise like your saying and melee have plenty of simple mobility/outs to stay on MM. Between that, rogue/war/ww having disarm to go with it and MM having to rely on aimshot while getting its face plowed in feels really bad to play in general.
Spending a ton of globals to get away between getting chunked doesnât get you any leverage or momentum its just prolonging the gap close briefly before they reconnect and gut you. Heck they prob close the gap while you wind up an aimshot and lose a ton of health to get it off only to get little/to no pressure from it.
Now sure they could give Arpen so your hitting plate much harder but that would make it even more brutal and OP to cloth.
MM is in a weird spot but i think most of it comes from damage not feeling good vs plate melee combined with their mobility. Every melee feels like they are built/designed to keep up with mages even tho its just PVE oriented QoL changes. Non mage classes in PVP are sort of collateral damage with melee mobility inflation lol.
Sub also feels tough to deal with as MM. Kidney, disarmed, they evasion, kidney again, 2x vanish. Gouge your aimshots. Feels like you spent most of game vs good sub being destroyed with little windows to get damage back on them
Anyone else find it interesting that all of the tears are coming from fire mages, warlocks, warriors, balance druids, rogues, etc.? As if they arenât absurdly broken anyway?
Mage into Marksmanship already felt rough and this makes it worse, so itâs understandable.
Buddy Iâm the biggest champion for mm hunters. Who do you think spent a month trying to get the aim shot bug fixed around here ?
wasnât necessarily talking about you but all of the people that are complaining about the buff are the same ones that make excuses for warlocks and rogues when theyâre ruling the ladder

In my eyes even though survivability or kiting buffs would have been better, this at least makes all of the melee cleave nerds in solo shuffle have to use defensives when I attack them. Even though theyâll probably just dog pile me as usual and perma slow me and I just die. At least this makes us a bigger threat even if we are still gonna be focus targets.
I played MM as a main primarily for ICC patch, all of cata, all of MOP and some of wod before i took a 2-3 year break from WoW.
Ppl complain about buff because all it does is make it more oppressive to classes it already oppresses needlessly and in casual environments but does nothing to solve the specs issues which make it underrepped/played
Mage/Hunter rep is usually gutter tier not because the classes suck but because in most situations they donât feel fun or good to play.
MM Hunter only feeling fun when its terrorizing bgs or cloth in arena and being miserable to play otherwise isnât solved by these 3 buffs. It needs a deeper look at its toolkit and modernizing to keep up with how the games pacing has changed.
Standing there to thunk ineffective aimshots at meta plate monstrosities that glue to you and blow up your healthbar every other global they touch u is a dogwater playstyle and aint no1 trying to play it. Assuming your even doing much damage or getting off aimshot.
