I have a custom water cooled pc that wont exceed 70 celsius cpu or 43 gpu yet Wow Classic is the only game that my pc wont utilize fully. Every other game i get 100% usage such as Apex Legends. Fortnite, Modern Warfare, Wolfenstein, and Other Triple A titles. I have a 240hz screen. Yet it dips below to 60 fps on a full Ironforge with players but Gpu is at 30% wtf!? Heres images. Probably because Classic is still optimized for computers that are 15 years old.
This new tech is capable of running things they couldn’t manage back then, so your equipment is throttling itself down to that level.
It’s not your computer, it’s the game.

Classic WoW is based on the Legion version of the game.
Does WoW retail utilize a GPU much? You listed a bunch of crappy games, but not Retail WoW. Seems like the one you would try.
WoW has never been some graphics keystone. I mean I can run it on a seven year old laptop, near max settings (it DOES get hot).
“Based on” but not “exactly like”.
The Classic game was squeezed into the Legion box, but it’s still an old game with old graphics.

That was the BlizCon demo. Classic is using the BfA version. Has been since the employee alpha.

WoW is CPU bound when there is many players and it still tanks even the best CPUs in heavily populated areas, there’s just a lot of calculations to be done.
You will never even scratch a good GPU with wow.

But back on topic: NO BODY needs a good computer to play WoW. It litterally runs on a toaster if you want it too.
My puter will run WoW fine. The rest of my money currently goes into my sailboat. Which is about like throwing it all in the bottom of the ocean. But its fun.
