I just came back on my P1 bis boomkin and I joined a more casual guild that had just gotten illidan on farm right before I joined. I have a feeling that this guild will struggle with progression in SWP and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it or not to stick it out with them or even to see that tier of content.
I don’t plan to play that character in wotlk or even on that server. Sort of wondering if I’d be better off just leveling up my toons for wrath, especially since none of my friends are in that guild.

A guild that just killed illidan won’t do anything in sunwell pre-nerf. They won’t even be able to reliably farm trash. Once it is nerfed they will likely be fine.

We pugged trash farming back in 2008 with just randos from trade, don’t think they’ll have much of a problem with trash.

Yeah they won’t go anywhere in Sunwell until wrath prepatch.
It was just days after release, before the doors even opened to the second half.
They’ll nerf long before that.
You are not remembering that correctly. You weren’t farming trash that early with randoms.
If it took them this long to kill Illidan, they aren’t clearing Sunwell. They aren’t even getting past Kalec lmao

Yep, with this current pacing, I expect to only see 2 maybe 2.5 months of prenerf sunwell.
It’s your call. If you haven’t made any connections in the guild and you really want to take a break before Wrath you can. You could also try to find another guild for Sunwell but from your post, it seems like you just want a break.
I doubt it will even be that long…
Na but I am not looking forward to the nightmare that recruiting will be as others do.
My guess is we get 4-6 weeks of pre nerf before blizz makes the big changes. The pacing really sucks for anyone that’s been enjoying the tbc content.

If your guild just got Illidan then they are going to hit a brick wall on the trash in SWP. Our guild is mostly all 90%+ parsers, that easily cleared BT and we were struggling in SWP on the PTR.
I would imagine it’s going to be a LOT of frustration when you guys hit that wall and a lot of people will leave.
