Allowing all classes to build skill levels with all weapons. E.g. if you a play Priest you can equip two handed axes but you would have to pay for training and spend some time grinding with that weapon to use it.
They had a similar system in DDO: Stormreach where you could equip you character with any weapon you wanted, but if your class didn’t have that weapon proficiency you had to grind the skill level for that specific weapon.
I think this would give RPers a lot of interesting and unique customization options.
I like these ideas!!! Or at least giving like “Goverment assigned disguses” or something but I can see that getting a little out of hand. Might as well just roll Horde at that point.
But I fully agree, all this “Well Blizzard doesnt care” attitude is exhausting… I just want to positvely keep talking about features that can be implemented and if we just sit and argue about how much they dont care the conversations stop and theres no passionate conversation! Just arguing. Lets just talk about actual features we want to see and not get into an exhausting cynical debate…
Keep at it Alunasari. I would love for there to be a side profesion of language learning thats like archeology and you learn to comprehend a little more with each task! But maybe you can only equip 3 languages at at time? This way its not overshadowing the mage ability and doesnt make everyone “Oh well I know EVERYTHING”
Love it Gotosh, thanks for your positive reply. I was getting a little exhausted with those answers as well, almost to the point where I was ready to just give up on this thread. It’s crazy to me to think that people would rather bash my progress that benefits the game and its players, instead of celebrate it and build on that momentum.
This all started because I wanted to try to be a faction neutral High Elf (using Sin’dorei model and will have blue eyes when SL comes out). It got me thinking about roleplaying in WoW and what it’s lacking, also how to roleplay as a neutral character - languages being a large barrier. I’m kind of in the mood to try to get a change implemented for us.
Sounds like we might be able to build some momentum for languages, plus, it only makes sense lore-wise. If we can already do it with a potion, why not? As someone mentioned earlier, the potion does seem like a cop-out.
I would like it if they changed some CRZ/Sharding/Phasing rules for RP servers. A “tourism mode” like Ursuola says would be great, or at least an option to go to a “neutral phase” that treats you as if you are a level 1 who has completed no quests so you could always enter a phase where you could see other players regardless of whether you’re grouped or not.
Sharding is already tweaked on RP servers so that org/stormwind never get sharded or made cross-realm except in extreme situations, and that should be the rule across the whole world for RP servers.
Some slight tweaks to pvp rules would be nice too, since we are so often targets of griefing on RP servers. While I’m otherwise opposed to phasing two completely separate phases for all zones, including Stormwind and Orgrimmar, for flagged and non-flagged people would be helpful. I didn’t opt in to PvP so I don’t wanna be lagged out in SW because a raid group of belves took over the mage tower or whatever.
It doesn’t hurt to approach the game’s problems with a hint of a positive attitude, like “hey, maybe we can convince Blizz of this.” Took a while, but they were eventually convinced to allow crossfaction roleplay as a game mechanic, with the potion of tongues. And while I know some people want a more complex mechanic - I’m personally not interested in grinding languages as well as flying and every bloody thing else xD. I’m just glad they’ve actually allowed crossfaction RP - it’s unprecedented for WoW and it’s been a lot of fun to actually RP with folks from the opposite faction. Hell, it’s allowed my void elf to publicly RP with his wife - a blood elf! They also made allied races, giving us many races like Nightborne, Mag’har, Dark Iron Dwarves etc that we’ve been asking for for YEARS. They were also convinced to allow playable High Elves. Took some time, but soon, High Elves are going to be playable. Whether their motives are corporate greed and sub retention or not, Blizzard doesn’t ignore and hate everything RPers say as much as everyone’s suggesting here.
Also, I mean… to whom it may concern… do you have fun being negative every time someone asks for positive change? Do you have fun looking down your noses and snorting at people who say “Hey it’d be really cool if Blizzard did this!” every time they have something positive to say? I really don’t get it. I like Alunasari’s suggestion (for the most part, not sure on the visiting faction based cities), and really think she’s being unfairly slammed here, frankly.
I will never understand this bizarre phenomenon where… somebody comes in and phrases something in a really abrasive way, but then behaves as if whoever questions it is the one being negative.
I was not negative. You were negative on the basis that I just didn’t agree with your sentiment. Thought, if basic disagreement is what qualifies as negative in this day and age, I suppose I can’t help but come across that way no matter how much I might actually be holding back.
Also this sorta applies to all server types but maybe RP realms as a whole would be healthier if there were… fewer of them?
There’s Moon Guard, which is massive.
There’s Wyrmrest accord, which is big.
There’s Emerald Dream, which is alive
And then there are 20 other RP servers which are mostly dead in a patchwork of linked realms stopping short of fully merging. If anyone wants to stan the community of “The Scryers” or whatever speak up, but I kinda doubt any of those realms are able to support the thing that makes RP servers unique–an engaged, RP-focused community.
Full merges of some of those communities might help them develop into something as robust as MG or Wra
Sarestha I think if someone literally rolled up and shot me in the forehead for real and I straight up died, you’d find a reason to wonder why I was being negative about it.
Nobody was slamming the OP. Honestly, now. This is beyond absurd.
Good point! Also, thanks for being positive. I think they are less likely to implement a complicated feature anyway - which is why I was originally suggesting they just give us all Common.
Daaang! Levington I hope you found a lake to jump in after that burn.
Seriously though, let me give you another chance. What are you actually opposed to here Levington? I want to give you a chance to explain yourself more clearly. From your first two responses, it seemed like you were against making suggestions to improve the game.
Slamming down someone’s idea because “insert reason here” seems a bit negative. You know you can disagree with someone and give reasons why you disagree?
There are some good ideas here. I think they have the proverbial snow ball’s chance… but I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing them come to light.
My biggest hope is for a real, true, and consistent effort be put into Housing. I am a huge advocate for Wildstar style housing as they did it best (imo) but I would also settle for ESO/SWTOR style housing.
Look, fair enough, you weren’t being rude or slammy. I think I’m just generally tired of the “Blizzard doesn’t listen to RPers” attitude because they kinda have, in this expansion alone, quite a bit. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to make a suggestion and think “Hey, maybe they’ll listen.”
Enabling WM in stormwind(or any city for that matter) should put you in a separate phase from people without WM obviously.
I know I’ve said a million times before that its peoples right to invade cities and attack people but I’ve never been for griefing. I’ve made that clear before.
