Any chance of getting an update to the stable interface. We’re still using the same interface that came out in vanilla. It was designed for 3 pets. We now have 205 pets max.
It is not easy to scroll through page after page looking at family icons to try and identify a pet without having to click through dozens of pets. I can’t search by family, name, or any other type of filter. I can’t put all the pets in an order which I like because doing so would take way too much time and be impossible to maintain for any amount of time.
Why can’t you just reuse the mount or pet collection tab for the hunter stable? It would list all the pets just like the mount/pet tab does with a preview on the right-hand side and it already has built in interface options for searching/filtering. It would make it so much easier, and the interface already exists to make this change. I don’t know how complicated it would be to move the pets into that interface, but it would be a nice update in my opinion. We’re not dealing with 3 pets anymore; we have 205 and this old interface hasn’t been updated since the game came out to my knowledge. It just doesn’t work anymore.
Thanks!

Bit of a shameless plugg here I know, but myself and a guildie are working on an addon that does exactly what you’re suggesting(in the absence of an update to the default interface). We also have a goal of adding even more features, to aid in the hunt for new beasts to tame.
Feel free to check this topic for a link to the addon page, or more info/images on the current state: [iStableMaster] New hunter addon - Updated for Dragonflight
Below, you can also see a preview of where we are with the -next- update, so far(Note: it’s a preview, and does not exactly match the currently released version). Still got a few things to do before this is pushed for release:

There is an addon I use called Improved Stable frames and it’s a GOD send. Makes all 200 slots+5 fully visible, no more having to scroll through multiple pages of 10.

I mean we should not want that we need an add-on to fix something that is a problem in the new and old user experience… unles now Blizzard is in favor of add-ons, which they said they are not…
Blizzard has always been in favor of add-ons to fix niche UI concerns. When a concern becomes very widespread and a ton of people are using an addon to accomplish something, Blizzard tends to crib heavily from the addon when adding/updating that feature in the base client.
See raid frames, auction house, actionbar redesign, repositionable unitframes, world markers, the Focus frame, enemy cast bars, bosses giving visible and audible warnings for key abilities, countdown timers, and about 10,000 other things I could list given enough time.
I’d much rather experienced Hunters who happen to be able to make addons make a UI that works well for Hunters than Blizzard take an existing UI paradigm like battle pets or mounts and copy it for stables without any attention to detail. Blizzard then has a great reference if and when they update the default UI.
This add-on would be so assume for me. (Issues with game abilities) I have more than 1 hunter and have gone thru so much grief to get pets I beg blizz to make pets account wide for all our hunters. This would be beyond QOL. I would only have to go thru the outrages grief to get a pet only once. Hunters know what I am talking about. Treat it like mounts, if you don’t qualify you can’t use it. No intent to derail thread , it just hit my soft spot as a elderly hunter.
Not to derail this thread, but feel free to check the topic I linked earlier about the addon we’re working on. We’re always looking for/and are happy to receive feedback regarding the current state, and what people would want it to include. In terms of features and functions, or other matters of an aesthetic nature.
It’s ofc still a WIP so much of what has been mentioned on the addon page on curseforge is yet to be implemented.
But again, feedback is always appreciated.

Blizzard is working on updating there new UI for next xpac but i dont know if it will make any changes for hunter stables.
@Ghorak
I also made an addon for WoW except it’s very basic. I have a computer science degree and have been a hunter in WoW since the game came out. I’ve never mained anything else.
In any case, if you would like some help with your addon please get on touch with me. I have wanted to do this for a long time. It was too much for me to tackle alone so I came here to ask Blizzard to do it, but I would be willing to help with the project, now that I know someone else is working on exactly what I wanted to do.

Appreciate it mate. We’re always looking for players who want to test/use the addon to provide their feedback, other than the already known issues, if you discover anything that ultimately causes the addon to not work properly, or even parts of it.
And ofc, if you have suggestions for something you think can improve the end-user experience. Either in terms of functionality or for aesthetic purposes.
My co-author got the coding part covered so I have to get back to you on this.
I’m also happy to test or provide other help if needed
