But we can’t ignore that heroic loot is an option.
When new content is out, we can re-evaluate things then. I fully expect assaults to have their gear rewards upgraded.
Those downsides already apply to every single other aspect of getting loot, they aren’t unique to Assault gear, so they don’t really apply to my comparison.
But the ilvl of the gar is not irrelevant. After enough time of doing Assaults, every single person would have the chance to get heroic loot. Everyone. Maybe not immediately, but its available.
The issue is that if heroic raid quality loot is able to be gotten through trivial means, there needs to be either a “hard lock out” (weekly lock outs, for example), or a “soft lock out” (RNG having a greater chance of not giving you exactly what you need).
Things that have a chance of giving you better loot (mythic+ weekly cache or mythic raiding) or loot spec heroic quality loot (raids or m+) each have either a “hard lock out” of a weekly reset, or a “soft lock out”, of the content being rather challenging.
Having the option to get a piece every 19 hours has to have a draw back on it (other than the RNG aspect of that the loot might not be ideal…which every loot option deals with).
And considering there are only what…4 total item slots (3 if you use a 2h weapon) that this even effects…its not that big of a deal.
No it’s not heroic loot, it’s Dazar’Alor LFR quality loot. Just because the raid was delayed doesn’t rule out that assaults and Dazar’alor fall under the same loot structure.
I would agree with the idea that if the game is going to throw loot at you, then there needs to be some kind of RNG lockout, like giving you off spec items instead of letting you target drops. What I take issue with is why things have to be this way.
The game should NOT throw heroic quality loot at you for daily questgrinding that takes no skill and little effort. Getting a high quality piece of gear should be rare enough that you can reliably target main spec loot while still giving you an appropriate amount of time for gear progression. What throwing useless off spec 370+ items at you does is make getting loot less exciting, since unless you play all 3 specs regularly you’re getting a lot of crap you don’t need.
This isn’t the biggest deal on my mage, since they all use int staffs, but on my monk, I’m just not thrilled for loot drops. I want to TANK on my monk, and the game is just throwing mistweaver crap at me. The game has decided that I shall heal on my monk, not me. I can’t even get into low level mythic keys since no one wants a crap ilvl healer.
Why? theres no guarentee the loot will be an upgrade, and you are limited to one spin at the wheel a day, maybe two, IF you can even be online for the event. and with RNG on RNG on RNG, i think thats enough of a lockout. JP/VP vendors diddnt have a lockout, and the currency was trivial to obtain.
the soft lock out for invasions is “can you be online for the event” as they appear randomly, and generally when people working full time jobs are asleep, or working.
groups would disband constantly.
insults don’t help.
loaded question, you’re right, higher ilvl players can get 370 loot, but the tier is over, so that’s basically irrelevant.
it’s only 370 if your current ilvl is 365+. and you have to work to get to that item level, i’d hardly call that “throwing loot at you”.
