Its working as intended op
Ok. And I have acknowledged that. It doesnât change that its still trivial content that can give heroic raid quality gear.
The trade off for being able to get a piece of gear every single day. Sometimes twice a day, is that it may not always be exactly what you need.
As opposed to a raid with a 1 week lock out, which will give you your loot spec designated gear.
It can, but by the time it does, you probably already have most of your gear slots filled. So, for the toons who are still looking to upgrade, it probably isnât giving heroic anything (bar warforge/titanforge).
These two statements you made greatly contradict each other.
Not really. If youâve made it to 360, youâve either gotten very lucky with warforging, or youâve gotten very lucky with not getting duplicates from the once a month warfront quests, or youâre doing content that rewards higher-level gear and donât need the incursion gear. WQ arenât going to get you there. Emissaries scale the same way the incursions do.
If your ilvl is 360, I am guessing the great majority of your items equipped will be upgraded by the 370 heroic quality gear the Assaults give.
Am I misunderstanding you?
Catch up mechanic is fineâŠbut currently, there is nothing to catch up to since there is only the one raid. And you shouldnât be able to catch up for heroic level. Iâve never done a Mythic+ or any raiding outside of LFR this expansion and Iâm already 368. That shouldnât happen.
Assuming thereâs an even distribution of ilvl, yes. My experience across multiple toons has been that Iâll repeatedly get the same few slots at high ilvl, while the slots that need upgrades donât drop.
And in just over a week, it wonât matter, because when the new raid opens all that heroic Uldir gear becomesâŠLFR gear. Which is, I think, a bigger issue than âgear is too easy to get.â
I think part of the problem - and this actually relates to the way they throw gear at us - is that in just over a week, your 368 ilvl wonât even be LFR level. Thatâs ridiculous. Instead of a steady power curve that wonât have us back at WoD ilvls by the end of the expac, theyâve decided that this tierâs mythic raiders have the equivalent of normal raid gear in the second raid.
ItâsâŠI donât even have words for how ridiculous it is to have a power jump like that. But with the current mindset of making each raid an order of magnitude more powerful than the last, it does explain why they need to have catch up gear.
Not only spec specific, but not something like a wand where ya need a off hand instead of a staff. Cause everyone wants a wand, not.
Same same, a ele or resto shammy want a mace / hammer and a shield, not a staff.
Come on guys, know what some class and spec want / have used / are designed around, fit the class fantasy.
Also for those that use a off hand or shield put the off hand / shield on the same loot table as the main hand.
And donât forget that some clases use something like daggers for one spec and swords for another one and they donât even swap usefulness if your a rogue for example.
Things that make no sense and make you shake your head and do a facepalm.
/sigh
feels bad getting the same 1h weapon 4 times in a row doing an incursion. If the game is going to cater to personal loot specs for raiding and mythics, then it should in open world as well; otherwise, all gear should be random imo. I was never a huge fan of hand out gear that really went viral in legion, I always preferred 25 man heroic being the top of the chain, followed by 25 man, then 10 man heroic, etc. Mythic + has a nice touch for it as well since folks usually have to be able to push buttons to do well at it. If anything, we should all agree on the lack of consistency in the loot approaches that are being churned out this expansion. I long for the ability to have a solid loot table, no coins, group loot and a very specific bis list again so that I can at least feel like I am working towards something.
calling the previous post ad-nauseam when it is isnt hostile. besides, its reponding to someone trying to derail the topic, so they woudlnt even bother with it anyways.
please remember the topic at hand is âLoot should be spec based for invasionsâ and go from there.
When you are already AT that gear level. otherwise, the ilvl of the gear scales, just like with WQ and other sources. so no, its not free heroic loot for newbies. its âloot slightly better than what you currently have, except when its completely wasted by dropping a mistweaver offhand for your brewmaster tankâ
and im suggesting that it shouldnât work that way. try to keep up
So you keep harping on the same point when its been shown to be irrelevant. it gives ilvl loot appropriate to what ilvl you are currently working toward. youâve acknowledged this, but keep spamming my thread with âWaahh, free heroic lootâ
canât have it both ways, as someone said to me earlier.
So by the time you outgear normal raiding (350) you start getting chances at higher level gear (can can drop for slots that donât need upgrades, and have random stats that are completely terrible for you, and can drop loot that is only compatible with one spec (the one you happen to not play and not enjoy)
its TOO MUCH RNG man. its just too much.
You can start getting 370 loot around the 360 ilvl.
That is not a lot of slots that dont need upgrades. That is nearly all of them.
If its too much RNG, and you want it to be more selective be prepared for the Assaults to be MAJORLY nerfed. Either the gear will be a lot worse, or there will be a lot less of them available.
Being able to get to heroic quality raid gear, while only doing trivial content, while getting daily upgrades has no place in WoW.
Fortunately I have never seen a worthwhile game ever agree with your mindset. I feel confident they will not make loot even easier to get for people doing trivial content. At least not to the extreme degree you are asking.
So in 8 days, when it becomes LFR quality gear, will it be okay?
Sure. My entire point is that heroic raid quality gear, if you are going to get a guaranteed piece every day has to have some drawback to it.
Raids have the drawback of being a weekly reset + not everyone is guaranteed loot.
Weekly m+ cache has the drawback of only beingâŠwellâŠweekly.
Mythic+ loot has the drawback of giving the exact same ilvl gear as the Assaults (while being much much much harder).
Maybe they should have held off on introducing the incursions until the raid dropped, then. Though personally, I would still argue that heroic gear shouldnât be dropping to LFR levels from one raid to the next.
So, hereâs the thing⊠Has this happened to anyone that you have heard of to anything OTHER than their weapon slots? I havenât received any trinkets for any spec other than dps. I havenât received any gear for other than Agi in any slots except Weapons. But, I HAVE gotten multiple drops in my weapon slots for Int (on this toon), Agi (on an Int alt), etc. So, it really sounds to me like a bug. But that couldnât be, because Blizzard doesnât put out buggy products, right?
As far as FREE Gear Bloat, which is what it is NOT a catch-up mechanic, I am 1000% against it. Even if it were to be to my own detriment. Which it wonât be, since I do the work to improve my own toon. Getting Heroic level gear, or even NORMAL level gear, merely for being in a zone or roflstomping some target with 30 other players is the epitome of⊠Well, I canât say it. My posting privileges will get suspended again.
No one complained in Legion, but that is because the gear from emissaries never broke 840. This isnât anything new, but now that trivial content awards high end gear people are losing their mind.
We didnât get weapons in Legion.
I concur. Iâm so very sick of getting offspec loot as a ârewardâ.
No? Loot spec is still useful for weapons and trinkets in group content. Our MW/RDruid doesnt need anything from Freehold? Switch to agi for chance at Harlanâs Loaded Dice which is BiS for almost every Agi Spec.
You want a 370 BM weapon? H Uldir and M+10s are waiting for you. Youâre even a tank.
