When TBC is launched and the Classic and TBC servers are split, can we get fresh servers as well? I took a couple months break from classic and just recently came back and it appears my server is just saturated with people selling everything under the sun you can imagine. Boosts, summons, buffs, the list goes on and on. Furthermore, unfortunately for those of us who missed a tier somewhere along the lines, we’re just left behind because it seems incredibly difficult to find a raid for previous tiers.
I’m not sure how other servers are currently, but I feel a clean server would be refreshing.
Obviously don’t allow transfers to or from these servers as well. I’d think some hardcore classic enthusiasts would be on board.
Really? If that’s the case you either don’t know where to look or you’re on a lower population server. Did you check your server’s discord?
I do agree fresh vanilla servers would be a good idea. They’d just have to merge them into existing servers after they hit phase 6. But they’re not going to do them until at least 6 months or so after TBC launch.
I checked the forums, haven’t looked at the discord recently. Honestly forgot server discords existed. I’m on Sulfuras, so I’m not sure where we’re at in terms of server pop in comparison to others.
I did test out a highly populated PvP Server (Whitemane - Horde) with an addon (Global Ignore List) I downloaded, as a “starter kit” to figure out which words to “filter out”, to avoid being bombarded with such ads.
Reason why I bring up the fact that it’s a PvP Server is because Pagle (a PvE Server, yet still fairly populated, for the Alliance) is filled with LESS of the junk that I saw on the PvP Server.
With the Global Ignore List addon, it’ll help weed out the nonsense, so you can see ACTUAL LFG listings.
My conclusion: PvP Servers are the WORST, followed by the more popular the Server, the more its susceptible to things like GDKP and Boosting (Pagle, as an example). And, lesser populated servers (my main server - Bloodsail Buccaneers) is less infested but (also) slower paced and not as rapid as more populated Servers.
Despite PvP Servers (at least Whitemane) being infested with unnecessary spam, there’s A LOT more “regular” types of dungeon runs being hosted than my own main Server provides (hence why I say it’s a lot more “slower pace”).
I advise checking around other Servers to see what fits right with you while also downloading the “Global Ignore List” Addon, to help weed out the unnecessary text spam. One thing I’ll give PvP Servers (at least Whitemane) credit for are the Summoning Services for their shared Server Members to obtain WBs and the like. Something, I didn’t think to “Filter Out” because neither my Main Server nor Pagle does such a thing. To be fair, I only tested the PvP Server for like a day, and I could’ve caught a group of people, being “nice” for that day, but I digress.
What’s funny is I think my main Server is home to the “Hardcore Challenge”, but I could be wrong LOL
Happens around here on the Forums.
It will, but there is an Ignore Feature on these Forums, as well, to weed out unwanted commentary, as well.
Here’s a link to that Addon (the Classic version and NOT the Standard Game Version LOL): https://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info25034-GlobalIgnoreListClassic
Oh, yeah well there ya go. That’s where 90% of the communication happens. Check your server’s discord. I’m sure you’ll find loads of raids. Most of them will probably be GDKP but you should also be able to find some soft reserves.
I appreciate the feedback. This was definitely helpful. I suppose I could do some soul searching server wise and I didn’t know such an addon existed. That alone would be a major help as the LFG server is quite literally all “WTS xyz boost” and such. I also am a fan of your idea for seasonal servers to keep things fresh and keep the boosters to a minimum.
I’ll give it a look and see what I can find. The server discord certainly slipped my mind. Thanks for the reminder and the advice.
I’m starting to sense a trend here…you seem to put in little effort to achieve what you want, but I digress.
I advise taking into consideration what this poster said:
But to answer this question:
https://ironforge.pro/servers/
Is “the best” we have towards determining Server Pops. According to that site: Sulfuras sits about 4854 Members with it being 38% Alliance and 62% Horde. Since, you’re posting on a Horde Character, I’m going to assume you play Horde on Sulfuras which holds more Member counts than my main server (which is Alliance dominated, and I play Alliance). The fact that it’s a PvP Server may be infested with the same experience I had on Whitemane.
I suppose it appears I haven’t put in much effort. I guess that depends on how you see it. I’ve only been returned to classic for a few days and between finishing a semester of college, revamping the pool in my back yard, and working full time, I’ve done the best I can given the time I’m allotted. This is mostly just based on observations in the time I have spent online.
As for this thread I was just making a suggestion. I had no idea this was a common post (as previously mentioned, I just came back and I hadn’t looked at the forum before yesterday). The advice and feedback certainly helps as well though.
There’s a magnifying glass next to your posting portrait, at the top right, of the Forums. You can easily type in the word “fresh” and MULTIPLE Results will appear about it.
