[Suggestion] Bots in WoW Classic

[My prefaced complaint]

Your customer support claims you’re banning bots in massive numbers and yet many players (anecdotally) report that they’ve seen the same bots for days, weeks, and months at a time. Farming the same areas. Having been reported. They’re still there.

It’s also pretty disgusting that your customer support is blaming the player base for a problem we all pay you to make sure is taken care of in the first place. Could you imagine saying that the ONLY way to stop people from cheating in Counter-Strike is if people stopped paying for the cheats? What a joke. Stating the obvious that players buying gold from these bots as the major contributor to this problem is just an attempt to derail the discussion. We get it that the only way to stop it would be to literally end the demand for it. Again, wasting time with stating the obvious. We know it can’t be “stopped” but it can certainly be reduced.

There are real world technical solutions we all know a company as large and as profitable as yours are capable of dealing with. Bots and their programs have signatures. Ban waves can be more frequent. You can take a small portion of the massive amounts of money you get from us and hire MORE people to combat these bots (since I would hope you already have some).

[My suggestion]

If you really are banning these bots in the numbers and as frequently as your customer support reps claim. Prove it. Give us a channel in game that shows us when a bot has been banned. Sure maybe you don’t want to give us their names or whatever for “privacy” reasons. Tell us the faction, class, and level of the bot that’s been banned. We don’t need to see all bans. Just the bot bans you claim are in massive numbers while we stare at the same bots in these zones day in and day out. If you can’t do that, do something. Show us, because honestly, we don’t believe you.

It’s apparently Blizzard policy in the NA/EU regions to refrain from speaking about exact numbers. In China, they recently started posting the bans and even the names of the characters being banned. The detection tools and methodology used to ban cheaters there is the same:

200,000 banned a little over a week ago. Names:

If they did permanent bans and had in game GMs like in the original release it would be fixed. The most basic BG bots are just zoning in and staying at the den.

Blizzard is too busy tying bots to WoW tokens and hoping all the suckers on here buy that this will stop botting.

My server has multiple guilds for bots that have been active for months. Often they have more players online than my own guild. Blizzard does not ban bots.
