Subscriptions are not changing

This is what changed: https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/world-of-warcraft-game-time

It’s a one time purchase for those that don’t want to subscribe. It previously had 3 options: 1, 3 and 6 months. Now it only has the option for 2 month purchases.

Ok.

But why?

Why is this good? How is this better?

It’s not but:
A) People are complaining about the wrong thing.
B) It ain’t as bad.

more choice > less choice

this just drives away people who cant afford to put out 30 but can 15 a month

We know what has changed, it’s a dumb change and not needed.

This is exactly what I was complaining about. If you don’t know how it’s going to be month to month, removing the option is just a big middle finger to the people that sometimes need to pay that way for any length of time.

What purpose does this serve? What problems does it solve? What is good about removing options from people?
If you are fine with defending this practice then surely you can explain its benefits. I am desperate to know them. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

So? Multiple people have said multiple times they don’t use the subscription, that they don’t like or trust ir for whatever reason.
Less options is never good.

In my country you know what’s the most common method of paying for wow?
boleto bancario (you literally print a paper with the code and pay with your bank app or at the bank) or pre-paid cards, both only work with game time because up until november of 2020 Brazil had no option to subscribe, so brazilian players have been using game time for years and years and most are used to not having to rely on credit cards to play their games and this change now forces a huge portion of these people to either change to a method they don’t like/want/trust and use credit cards which they may not even have or pay for double the amount they want/need.

Stop defending this ridiculous company bad practices.

To reiterate what I said in another thread:

You still have a choice. All you have to do is use the $15 subscription fee and turn off your auto renewal. It’s not super difficult to understand.

Do we? Look at the GD page and count the amount of sub complaints.

see these people here love defending anything activision does no matter how dumb it is

Who would want to sub after a stunt like this? I actually canceled, I don’t want to support this kind of stuff anymore, it is getting old.

You gentlemen have a good one.

People are upset that a cheaper version of a product was removed from the marketplace. Why are they wrong?

Because they’re complaining about subs, not game time.

My assumption is it is good for optics - not necessarily player optics. Some will buy the 2 months of time rather than sub and some may sub for a month. Those who sub for a month may cancel right away or it may slip their mind. An increase in sub count may be favorable to their stock price and executives get stock options and dividends from those stock.

I think it’s more money in any case. Either people pay for 2 months, get bored and quit, but Blizz still has their $60. People forget to unsub, so Blizz has their money. Subs go up, Acti/Blizz is viewed more favorably so stocks increase and Bobby/Ion/etc get some nice checks through the year.

You can see it however you want to see it.

Personally, I think me telling you a way to cheat Blizzard’s system they put into play here is the opposite, but I’m sure you’d rather call me a Blizzard shill because you have nothing more productive to add to the conversation.

nah shills have lines they put in the sand when something dumb like this happens and they call activision out on it

Many people pay by game time and not with a credit card, and generally they are lesser income people. So now telling them they need to pay dbl at one time is so incredibly sad… this company has lost its heart, and I mean that.

Except you can still sub for $15 a month, sooooo… this is just plain wrong.

This has way more to do with affecting the bottom line of botters with dump accounts paid through game time.

The difference is that subscription requires a credit card while game time has several different options that are more convenient to a lot of people.
