What does āviableā mean to you?
Can you kill KelāThuzard as a Subtlety Rogue? Yes
Can you get to Gladiator as a Subtlety Rogue in 5s? Maybe
Can you parse 99.999999% and land a Swedish bikini-model wife as a Subtlety Rogue? Probably not

Parsing as a sub Rogue would put you against all sub rogues so yes you can parse a 99.
Did you confuse an āANDā with an āORā?
At the 99th percentile, Sub is 16% worse than Assassination on Patchwerk on warcraftlogs. Itās not really an accurate representation because thereās so few Sub Rogues that the sample size is small and the number of speed running guilds with a Sub Rogue is likely 0.
The actual difference in DPS is probably somewhere from 5-10%.

Well, go Sub and compare it to your Assassination parses and post your logs here. Iām curious to see how well you perform relative to your prior parses.

Whatās wrong with the assassination being popular? I mean if you like the spec just play it. Itās already the best this tier
Any build, or playing with no build, is āviable.ā The problem is that they arenāt all competitive. People confuse these words and Iām not sure why. They are arenāt exactly spelled similarly or anything.
Viable: You can get the job done, no matter how bad you are at it.
Competitive: You are actually good at the job compared to everyone else or every other build.
Well, hereās the thing, is it viable if everyone is that āviableā class and playing it as bad as possible?
Would you meet DPS checks? Because at the end of the day, anyone and everyone can get carried. Somebody could be doing less dps than a tank and because they cleared people say itās viable.
If you only care about parses than go sub. If you want to deal maximum dps to speed up raids, go assa
If you want to not play the glue sniffer spec (assa) then play combat. Sub is active trolling.

Why is this a competition that matters? 
Why would you go sub in a raid? You can just spec swap between assa and sub. You use the same weapons.
No reason to go sub.
I donāt think sub is decent but I may be wrong.
Sub is trash compared to the other specs but you could still go sub and do more dps than frosstfire pretty easily so maybe see if thereās an opening in his guild and it wouldnāt be hard to get his spot.
Well you can for sure do more dps than Knaztor cause he is a warrior. Even if Knaztor plays really well on Warrior your sub rogue will do more dps.
So I guess that is a good rationale for bringing a sub rogue 
I feel like playing a spec JUST so you can parse higher is kindof weird. Why wouldnāt you rather be number 1 or 2 on the charts with your guild, rather than number 1 or 2 on a website against people you donāt know and have never met.
