Title says it all, just got home from work, after four attempts it just hangs on “retrieving realm list” then disconnects me, rinse and repeat.

Same here, know people who are able to get in though…
A guildmate and I have both experienced this on Cata classic realms. Both of us have 2 accounts and can log into our “wow1” account easily, while the primary account is a pain to get into if it works at all. Others in the guild with only a single account have not reported the issue yet.
Game version says 11.1.0, i thought that didn’t come out until next week? Never really paid that much attention to it, but did they maybe push the wrong patch live this week?
Next week is when season 2 starts

What a Surprise going on 2 and half hours after this went live and still can’t log in. First it was saying my system was outdated, Not possible this is a new System and everything worked before Maintenance Shutdown. Now its stuck on trying to load my Characters. Is it to hard to ask Blizzard to actually get these bugs fixed before release. I mean i pay a Subscription Fee To Play when ready.

Given there are plenty of people that were able to log in as effortlessly as they usually can, myself included, safe to say it isn’t technically a bug. You might want to post over in Technical Support since it indicates a latency issue, however.
There also is no message telling us our systems are outdated. There is one that tells us when addons are outdated, however.
