Stuck on Initializing-won't update!

Launching from exe doesn’t work for me. It opens a process in task manager but doesn’t actually open anything or use any resources.

I did this and now its going the process of reinstalling the game. Son of a. Such a simple fix, but a pain in the butt to get.

Did not work for me either. I’m still suck on initializing.

worked for me as well

I’ve got the same behavior over here. :frowning:

Didnt work for me at first, make sure you have no more processes of battle.net or wow.exe running in your task manager. I apparently had like 4 or 5 from trying to launch manually from the wow folder.

Since deleting the battle.net folder and running the wow.exe from explorer don’t work for me, I decided to try a scan and repair, but that’s not working, either. It’s stuck at 1% scan.

worked for me im playing the game homie

What DID work for me was running the curseforge app and starting the game from there (at the top right side of the window). Thanks to Pinga in the other thread.

This didn’t work either, nothing happens, not even a dead process in task manager.

Blizzard CS Twitter says they are aware and working on it.

No longer initializing, but hitting Play now opens 5 dead processes lol. I’m gonna go play beta and let this blow over.

Edit: gahhhh beta is doing it too. >.>

Same problem here… cant scan/repair either

Followed the Task Manager instructions to shut down and reinstall Battle.net, didn’t help. Finally uninstalled the game; retail, Classic and beta. Installing continues to be stuck on initializing so I can’t reinstall. I was playing earlier today with no problem and this issue occurred while afk fixing dinner. Something is not right on Blizzard’s end.

Thank you Agnass, “https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/34719” this article fixed the problem. Much appreciated.

Ok, one caveat here…I should have said something but totally thought others would see it too. When you get to the point that you see the “Install” button, look below it and you will see a line saying “find game folder” or something like that. Click on that and it opens up file explorer where all your files are kept. Search for the World of Warcraft file folder and click on that to use.

This way you don’t have to reinstall the game you already have loaded, it just fixes the problem that is causing the issue with the launcher.

same here.
