"Stuck on a quest" support/clarification

Hey all, I was hoping for some CS assistance or clarification. I currently have an open ticket relating to the quest “Trust Issues,” which is a quest that begins with an NPC appearing and offering it to you in Oribos shortly after completing “The Search for Baine.” After doing so, the NPC did not appear for me, and without this quest, I can’t continue on in the Ve’nari chain of quests at all. I’m stuck.

I opened up a ticket and described my issue. The response that I received confirmed that it was not intended, confirmed that the NPC was not appearing as she should, but only offered up some speculation as to what the problem might be and, most concretely, a recommendation that I submit a bug report and wait the “days, weeks, months or however long it may take” for it to be fixed.

After clarifying that I wasn’t asking for the bug to be fixed, per se (in the sense that I expected the NPC to suddenly pop in due to the GM’s efforts), but rather that the issue could be worked around by either marking the initial quest as complete or otherwise adding it to my log and flagging the first stage as complete, I received a second CS response doubling down that such a thing was impossible and that a bug report was the only thing to be done.

Now, this does sort of fly in the face of my experience with quest bugs and how CS has been able to help me over the past nearly 20 years, and as recently as two weeks ago with a different quest, but it is possible that I am mistaken. Am I truly stuck until this gets fixed on the developer side? I thought this was a textbook example of the kinds of things that CS did on a regular basis.

They can’t do this as it could easily caused more issues down the line unless the Devs gave the greenlight beforehand. The GMs ain’t able to flag any quests that’d get reported to them and haven’t done such without the go-ahead by said devs.

Do you know if it’s a phasing issue? It’s possible there’s another quest with that area or NPC that is causing it not to work correctly.

I’m unable to check at the moment but WoWhead comments are also a great place to check for known work around for quest problems.

Thanks, yeah. I appreciate the troubleshoot attempt. Wowhead is always the first place I check, and no luck. Nothing quite matching my problem, mostly just some uncertainty really early on in the quest’s life about what makes it pop and then a shared consensus (which the GM had as well) that the triggering condition is completing “The Search for Baine.”

The first GM also speculated it could be a phasing issue, but I’m not sure (and neither were they) what quest I’m on that would be phasing upper Oribos. They also roughly suggested completing the entirety of the Korthia and Zereth Mortis content to see if that helped, but that’s a lot, completely out of order with the content I’m trying to do, to go through just for a maybe (and just as a personal problem, doing the story out of order like that would not be my preference).

I guess I’m at a loss. Maybe I’ve just been really lucky over the years but I’ve never had a GM - let alone two - identify that there was indeed a problem with a very important quest, and that yes, you are stuck, but just leave me with no real answers or definite path forward.

EDIT: As an update to this, going off of suggestions that it might be a phasing issue, since the early quests of Chains of Domination do, eventually, phase the upper floor of Oribos, I figured I’d try the first GM’s suggestion of proceeding with that content on the offchance that even the intro quest was doing the same. Against my strong preference of seeing content in order, and having now cleared all of the 9.1 quests that do phase some action in Oribos, the NPC is still not appearing for me.

Sorry to hear that doing Korthia didn’t help.

You don’t mention if you have or not, but maybe try doing a layer of Torghast and seeing if that prompts it? Just a standard layer, not the special ones they had for questing purposes.

Otherwise yeah, I guess just submit a bug report and hope it gets fixed soon or a work around found.

As someone who is trying to do literally all the quests available in game, it’s very frustrating when stuff like this happens.

As Zenjy mentioned, what a Game Master can do is based on the approved troubleshooting steps they have available. We generally cannot simply grant a quest or complete it for you, if we have not specifically been given authorization to do so for a specific situation.

With that said… Have you gone to the Ring of Transference, Esker? I just tested it and Ve’rayn shows up as soon as I teleport down there with the quest “Trust Issues”.

I am beyond confused by your magic touch. It’s working just fine now. I swear I’m not crazy; at least one GM actually tried the same and it was not functioning. Either way, thank you for taking a look! I have no idea what solved it, but I’m thrilled that it’s good.

It’s Centaur Magic… that’s the only way I can figure it because I didn’t do anything different from what a Game Master who took one of your tickets did.

Glad you are on course though.
