My brother have this issue since Wednesday that he his stuck at Retrieving Character list. We found this morning on thread on this issue in Europe forums. We couldn’t find anything else online about this issue so we created a ticket on it wednesday.
We tried 5 different PC, tried at different locations, etc. We even tried on my computer at my house. Same issue. After that I was able to log back on my account no problem.
He can log into Classic. He can log into his starter account EU but NOT his starter account US.
Of course we tried stuff like repairing, reinstalling and such but as you can see, it has nothing to do with the internet, antivirus, ISP provider and the PC. It is entirely related to the account or a character maybe.
We only got BS answers like :
Have you tried resetting your modem ?
24h later: Try reinstalling the game. Even better
24h later (even better): and automatic reply talking about Call of Duty
For a AotC player, this is really frustrating. Seems like the support don’t even read the ticket. Might be a full week lost to this.
No, as soon as we are about to see the new warband background, it stays black and the game freezes at Retrieving Character List. No characters are loaded and can’t press any buttons. The Character list on the right is empty
This is happening to a guild member of ours as well – we have teamed up and tried everything! Blizzard either has tier 1 or AI responding to tickets, and they all are saying the same thing despite telling them what we have done on our end.
They end up closing the ticket and say its our problem. With overwhelming evidence showing that after creating a new bnet account and it working just fine – that it is in fact NOT his end.
Have them try to change the password to the account.
Also in battle.net … Reset in game options… And rename WTF folder to test.
Once done… Restart computer. Without battle.net also starting on startup.
exactly the same issue as this EU thread, https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/stuck-on-retrieving-character-list/536565/99 seems like they got it back this morning by just waiting but on my part i am still stuck and nothing has changed (ticket not answered properly since wednesday), i cannot post on my main account because my char arent existing and it says i need a lvl 10 char to post if a blizz employee sees this please unstuck Drainzor Drainzor#1672. Changed password already and even tried to pay for a character service to try to trigger something
Still not working for for me either. Seems like there’s a disconnect between Blizzard EU and Blizzard US teams since EU team was able to resolve the issue, but US still has the issue. Sept 14 7am maintenance didn’t resolve it either.
90h in now, multiple tickets opened, still basic generic answers, cant reach anyone. cant play. went to my cottage on another different setup / network provider and still same 100% on their side. please halp
i am so mad right now get endless answer from bot saying to restart my modem and some basic dumb answers. its gonna be a total week reset lost for me. No real tech answer, cant contact via phone, cant contact via live chat, tickets getting BS answers. Anyone got an answer to this? like i said tried on MULTIPLES PC, with different Networks. can connect to others account but not mine. (always stuck at retrieving character’s list). if i log on my second account it work just fine. i cannot do ANYTHING else before waiting but its been a week and i get absolutely no answer either the forums, the tickets and reddit. what am i supposed to do now? please take this bug seriously
Not sure why US realm still has the same exact issue EU had when EU realms seem to have resolved the issue. Feels like there is zero coordination/cooperation going on between EU and US teams…looks like we’re gonna be missing a week’s worth of progress at this rate.
I’m wondering if the main character that would normally be highlighted is stuck somewhere. Can you try using the character stuck service on whichever is at the top of the list or last played character?
