Getting past retrieving char now… Now trying to log in to any char gets 80% in and D/C.
at first it showed that i had no charecters on any realm then after a few times closing out wow i got back to my charecter screen but any time i try to enter US-Stormrage i just DC

UGH. I’m in the same boat. Was just finished a tier 8 Delv on the boss, got disconnected and now stuck on retrieving character list. Then if i manage to see the warband trying to log in just stays on the loading bar lol
I just had the same issue.
Updating Curseforge, and updating my addons fixed the issue for me.

Every one of my character servers are down. Well, there’s always WWZ at least those servers work.
Just started happening to me as well
I had the same problem, disconnected in a dungeon and then couldn’t log back on. I had to go to my WoW folder, rename the WTF folder to something else, reopen WoW then log into a different character, then quit go back and delete the new WTF and rename the old one back to WTF and then it worked…
So glad Blizzard was able to not help at all with this, feel like we should all get the pay for being BlizzSupport!

I come back to WOW after a few years and this happens to me night one lmao just like the good old days
Same here. Game is showing me that Area 52 is currently offline.
Same issue happened to me, stuck at that screen.
Same issue - I was playing my druid and in the middle of a battle pet combat when suddenly the game said ‘Reconnecting’, and now it just says Retrieving Characters

This is very frustrating. Was in the middle of a dungeon, now my group is stuck and crap part is people are blasting others while I’m stuck … ugh
I am also having the same issue. Was D/Ced mid raid and now I get to 80% load and disconnected everytime.
I ran into this issue myself and came across this fix and it seemed to work for me.
Close WoW completely: make sure the game is fully closed, including background process.
Navigate to the Cache Folder: go to your WoW Installation Folder, then open the Retail Folder and you will find your Cache Folder here.
Delete the Cache Folder: delete the entire folder, it will regenerate the next time you launch the game.
Restart WoW. check if it works, it may take 1-2 minutes.

Server back, traveler log reset, chance to earn another 1k tender? lol…
This worked for me as well. Opened up Curseforge and let it update everything. I’m back in. Thanks Asvedal!

I just finished a delve when I got logged out. It’s stuck on retrieving the character list.
This is oddly what solved my problem. I was logged out of curseforge for some reason, too. And the only mod that updated what World Quest Tracker.
