That was a limited open stress test for anyone.
Beta is still happening now, if you can still play classic you have Beta if not you were in the stress test.
It was great just how i remembered it. It was fun fighting for mobs and stuff to get out of the first zone it was nice seeing the same people around and not have them disappearing right in front of me. I really excited for classic

If the stress test hadn’t ended, I would have skipped 8.2. Thanks Blizz for saving me from this antique.

After the first four hours of gameplay I hardly experienced any lag unless I was in a congested area.
When all the layers were disabled at the end of the stress test I experienced very little or no lag, I did however experience a reduce of framerates due to all the players, but this still didn’t affect my gameplay very much. (Server 15 on Horde)
I don’t know what the physical state of the servers looked like during the test but it seems to me the game was handling a lot better when it did not have to worry about sorting players on certain layers.
I will definitely take lower fps over lag if that means getting rid of layers, and personally it felt like a real MMO when I was surrounded by hundreds of fellow players.

I enjoyed it. The only issue I ran into was the orc and troll starting zone was basically impossible to level in. I just skipped it for the most part. The other characters I leveled were perfectly fine on alliance and horde. I think adding two extra layers just for level 1-5 trolls and orcs would go a long way in smoothing out the experience just for day 1 and 2 of launch. Otherwise layering is awesome as it helps make servers feel very much alive. Wish we had that in retail instead of battlegroups
