Shouldn’t Stratholme be restored to its former glory… well former undeadness. I can’t think of a good lore reason why it should still be infested with scourge.
Anyone else think so or is there something I’m missing when it comes to the fate of that city?

Imagine blizzard updating the game based on lore, go read the books buddy stratholme was restored 5 years ago.
For 15 years, the City of Stratholme has been burning. You would think that everything would be turned to ash by now.
Would be nice if they did so. It make a wonderful Sanctuary/Neutral City.
There might be lore reasons for it never having been restored, but the biggest reason is likely because of the technical problems associated with it. As I’ve detailed in an older post (with pictures!), Stratholme occupies the same space as Deatholme in Ghostlands and they probably want to get Eversong+Ghostlands merged into Eastern Kingdoms mainland before they do anything to fix Stratholme, because both require major map surgery.
As far as Teldrassil, Theramore or Gilneas.
But like both, it will never change to more than one destroyed scenario.
And who would live in that city?
It is still within the forsaken territory.
Forsakens do not need to reconstruct the place in the image of their former greatness.
The place is still on fire after 15 years and this is what you’re worried about?
It’s more due to the fact that they’d have to replace two dungeons and alter the quest flow in EPL.
And you’re not taking away the only time I get to pal around with Fiona dang it!
A dungeon disappearing won’t be too much of a problem if they merge all leveling dungeons into a single 10-50 bracket with the level squish (I think they will). They could use the merging to justify Gnomeregan getting fixed up and removed as a dungeon, too.
They would have to mess with EPL questing though, that’s true.

I do think old zones should have story about revamp coming, yes. Strat specifically, I don’t really have an opinion on that dungeon specifically.
All I ask is, can beauty come out of ashes?
I mean I assume it be occupied by Argent Dawn but maybe there be a new quarter that is Ebon Hold as well.
Could tie it into the resurgence of the Crimson Crusade story line they got going on - trying to pit the two tenuous factions against each other and the players have to uncover the plot and preserve Stratholmes new future???
Could include some forsaken run-aways spice things up lots of tension…

That place has been burning since Arthus was alive. At least 20 years right? Something like that.
I mean it’s more trapped in the time where it was left.
Like with the Cataclysm we still have Tornadoes in West Fall going even though Death Wing is dead… It’s more like the resources just aren’t there.
I believe Stratholme is eternally cursed to burn away and always be a den of evil.
No matter how many times the crusade clears the place out or secure sections of the city, new evil rises inside.
Forsaken architecture would fit in very well. They can even reutilize the ziggurats and slaughterhouse.
