Strange Disconnect issue

Not sure if this is related to other topics on here or not but the last day and tonight i keep getting disconnected while playing. my character just stays casting and nothing moves. however i am still able to talk in G/officer/Raid chat just fine. so my issue is my connection to the game and not in the ingame chat realms. hoping this makes sense to someone and i can get some advice

This is happening to me as well. I’ve noticed that it now happens any time I phase to a new area. I can still see and talk in all chats, but NPCs stop spawning, I cannot use any abilities, etc. It’s similar to what happens right before a DC but I never actually DC from the game. Using menu buttons such as log out or exit game do not respond either, have to close out via other means and log back in.

Same here.

Same thing with me. I keep either lagging bad or just DC’s me.

Thanks for the reports, everyone! The issue with everything staying in place, but chat and everything works is usually due to a local network issue like outdated network adapters or router settings, but can also be related to general connectivity issues. The following steps can help troubleshoot local network concerns:

If it continues, let’s grab WinMTR tests while running WoW for 10-15 minutes.

Whats the best way to link WinMTR?

I have the exact same issue. Nothing is interact-able but chat still works, then boom disconnect. Just started occurring since the latest patch/maintenance. WoW install was fresh prior to that by about a week as was my Win10 OS install. Everything is up-to-date on my computer.

I have been having this issue since 8.1, Internet still works while this is happening, also in game the world and home ms do not change from sitting at 57, even though this should clearly indicate a spike in one or the other. Most recently happened today, and seems to be happening more frequently (last few days ive tried to go farming in drust and this will happen about 20-30 minutes into a farming session causing me to alt f4.)

Having the same issue here. Occur quite frequently since the latest patch. Chat is working, but game is no longer received any other data from the server. Have to Alt-F4 to exit game, and restart game client. Take anywhere from 45 secs to 60 secs to reload the client.

I’ve caught this as it happened with a traceroute and it shows it isn’t my ISP. It gets to Amazon datacenter IP’s, which I’m assuming Blizz uses, and it just dies. So as usual there’s an issue and they aren’t admitting it. Instead blaming user computers, isp’s, and everything else they can ugg -.-

I too have been seeing this issue and it has been quite frustrating. It also seems to have much more of an issue fairly recently (I honestly don’t recall this issue previously…at least not to the degree I had been seeing it). After running through about every option I could read about/think of (re-install game, reset the UI, check firewall ports), I tried connecting my system via Ethernet cable, and noticed quite the difference. I was able to go for over two hours in Siege of Zulduzar raid without issue. It was surprising, but I could not rule it out as “I got lucky”.

So, this morning, on the assumption that this was a connection issue, I went and updated the drivers for my Wireless adapter. In my case, Windows believed I had the most recent driver, but going to Killer Networks website had an updated WHQL’d driver set, so I installed it. Also, as I normally use a wireless connection (I have a gaming laptop) I opened the screen to change the antennae position; I generally just leave it “docked” without thinking about it.

With these changes, I have now been through three different instances this morning, and I have yet to disconnect. I am cautiously optimistic that the connection strength, signal integrity, etc. is a component here. I will see how it goes.

Hopefully this general setup is similar to others here and may be applicable. I will update if I have anything new come up.

Same thing has been happening to me since the patch and like others, it is growing in the number of times it happens. Usually it will happen after a flight path trip or a portal usage if I try to move the second I land/appear. Can still talk and such, but the only way to get out of the freeze is to crash the game.

Seems fine when I am questing in an area and just driving around on my mount or whatnot. The moment I hit a fp or portal is usually when it happens.

After having to crash the game for the fourth time today I gave up and went to D3. Now, this could have been because my mouse crapped out as well, but I suddenly couldn’t move there also(after replacing the batteries). Or I assume that is what happened because I Could still use keyboard buttons, but my follower would not move from where he was and they follow you everywhere.

Outside of the mouse dying (which may have been the issue in D3) I have not found anything wrong or not up to date on my end.

Hoping the Tues maint will fix it.

What IP address are you tracing to Amazon normally only shows up tracing to the web site

It was the WoW website I ran the traceroute to, as I didn’t have the IP’s to anything else. But the website has issues loading at the exact same time WoW in game issues occur so…related? And no, other websites/services from my computer across the internet do not have issues at that time. So whatever it is impacts website and game client alike.

My WinMTR looks similar to Sesroh’s. Not sure if it’s a routing problem or what. Game is completely unplayable atm tho.

exactly the same thing happening here, game freezing usually when i am in battle then it unfreezes and says something like chat disconnected and reconnected or no response from wow error !!!

please dont say its my darn internet i am on fibre optic never have a problem with it, as in NEVER. christchurch new zealand

Hoping today’s maintenance fixes this. Sometimes that is all it takes. Couldn’t even get in the game yesterday. Logged on and soon a Dal got done loading I took one step to Kadgar only to end up freezing again. Had to crash the game again.

On a good note, D3 just had a different problem which on my end so all the issues are only WoW related.

Having the same issue for a couple of days now. This morning I was in Darkshore. Had to force log-out cause I was moving but nothing else was. Haven’t been able to log in since. My connection is fine, just checked and i’m posting this. LOL So they can’t say it’s an isp problem cause everything else is working on my end. Hope they figure it out. The game frankly has enough problems already without this issue on top of it. I guess they really do want me to stop playing it… Sighs…
