My game says it is consistently running at 75 fps, but I feel that when I move the camera, it moves quite “powerpoint-ish”. Note that I said the camera, if I look fixed at characters in the area, their animations are normal (That’s why “Strange performance” in title). It’s like the camera is at fewer FPS that the game itself?
I normally play the game with preset graphics 7 (Even in retail), I lowered it to 5 one time when levelling a NE Priest in Forever, and it solved for like, 15 seconds. Then I lowered even more to 1 and it didn’t change anything. Returned to 5, nothing, then 7 and nothing again.
Wanna know if someone else noticed something similar.

If you have a PC that has to have wow graphics anything less than max in order to run smoothly then it’s probably just a hardware issue.
Forever doesn’t have crazy looking graphics but the lighting effects on this new engine is probably bogging your pc down a lot. Instead of turning stuff down find the specific option for secondary lighting and turn it off and see how it performs.
My pc is nothing crazy but full max settings at 1440p still gets me over 100 fps

Did set my graphics to maximum and reduced “secondary lighting” to minimum (Fair, since can’t disable it) and it improved greatly, didn’t solve, though. So you’re right, something about this addition of “secondary lighting” is sabotaging my hardware. I was wondering about CPU, but it didn’t even reach 50% of its capability, so I doubt it.
It’s so strange that my game runs smoothly in retail (Except in players Hub, but that’s normal. And sometimes some very specific dungeons like Murders Row) than Forever. I’ll report directly through the game and I hope if someone notices then do it as well because it’s quite annoying
Idk about retail but I believe this type of lighting is unique to forever. I think it’s bogging down a lot of PCs
my camera has a very slight stutter in eastern kingdoms compared to kalimdor. consistent 120fps, animations playing normally. just the camera isn’t smooth on an entire continent (it’s fine in dungeons like DM)
weird!

This is incredibly false. There are significant issues with how fog and lighting propagate through the sky causing a combined 70fps drop if they aren’t both toggled off. That’s an issue with their settings, not with our computers.
for my issue of the camera being choppy in ONLY the eastern kingdoms, turn view distance down. it fixes it.
Yes and if you don’t have a decent computer that setting is going to kill your performance, that’s what I just said.
My computer has run with full graphics just fine. Only issue being the obvious memory leak in cities.
i have a 4070s and a 7800x3d and im getting weirdness don’t get too ahead of urself lmao
optimization issues in a beta who would’ve guessed
Mate, it’s the settings causing the issue, not the hardware.
I never said there wasn’t these issues. I am just saying your computer obviously can have issues running specific settings if it’s not good enough.
That statement doesn’t mean there are no issues with optimization.
stop being weird and spamming a thread about a real issue, no one will remember ur name for arguing in blizzards honor.
anyways yeah try reducing ur view distance to see if that helps at all. I usually am on the level 7 preset and it stops getting choppy at like 3 viewdistance? so maybe it is stuff in the sky getting weird. Only EK though kalim is perfect
I’m not arguing in blizzards honor you moron. I helped the guy with the setting that’s been giving people issues and I simply pointed out some lower range PCs will struggle with them.
That triggered you for some reason because your 9 volt brain took it personally somehow.
Yet you’re blaming our computers instead of their forced settings. It’s the forced settings causing the problem. Last week when I could still turn off fog, my FPS was considerably more stable and higher. That’s not my computer because last week I could get perfectly good FPS.
bros a breakthrough. on EK setting envrionmental detail to 5 and view distance to 5 fixes it…
what are they hiding in the eastern kingdoms…
And this addresses issues for those who already have those settings at 1?
If your pc can not handle poor optimization then your performance will take a hit. Wow mind blown!
I’m not saying they couldn’t fix this issue down the road I am telling the guy that at this moment if he wants to fix it he has to turn those down a lot.
Sorry that hurt your little feelings.
Are you installed on an SSD?
Do you have anything running in the background, such as overlays?
Does your CPU match or exceed minimum?
You seem like you really want to attack people for what computer they have more so than you want to talk about the performance of the game dictated by settings they’re forcing. Maybe you should reflect on that motivation.

Wow the sensitivity coming from you is unmatched. It is so funny how personal you took someone saying “if you have a low end pc you will struggle with settings that aren’t optimized”.
