Is anything going to be done about this? Every other m+ log I check has groups running around with fort, int, motw, and shout without having these classes in the group
If anything will be done about it, probably not until Season 2⌠and even then. Pretty sad people have discovered how to use exploits like this.
Even worse when Blizzard does not punish people for doing this.
they can just turn off buffs outside storymode. the fix is on the side of the Storymode, not M+.
When the Hakkar plague happened, they fixed the plague, they didnât delete Ironforge.
Sure, this should be fixed, and probably will be. But why are you so invested that youâre looking at other peoplesâ m+ logs? Youâre not anywhere close to competing for a title, so Iâm not seeing why it makes a difference to you either way.
Because some people are Randall Weems irl.
This really has no bearing on someoneâs interest in the matter. Maybe theyâre a fan of the race? This would be like saying that a pro football team breaking the rules in a playoff game and getting away with it wouldnât make any difference to a watcher of the games because they arenât competing for the same championship.
If a problem doesnât actually affect someone, is it a problem for them?
The analogy isnât right. What if both teams are breaking the exact same rule in the exact same way? Is there any competitive advantage being gained, and if not, does it matter?
And for as long as this remains in the game as something that is allowed to be done, itâs more like complaining that the pros are are doing something legal that the fan in question wishes was against the rules. Maybe they saw the rule in college football and preferred it that way, but either way, it should have no impact on their enjoyment of the rec league games they play in.
While the rest of what you mentioned is sensible, this isnât as much. This is like saying that because the saronite bomb exploit in ICC was left in the game until they had to ban someone for it (as it wasnât just one guild that attempted to use it), observers canât complain itâs wrong because itâs âlegalâ.
It is very demonstrable that maintaining buffs in the manner described in this thread is unintended because if you start a key with buffs from actual players whose classes are no longer in your group, those buffs are immediately wiped. The precedent exists. Blizzardâs choice to continue to not act for whatever reason doesnât make it not an exploit that should be punished.
I take your point, but theyâre not exactly the same. Saronite bombs in ICC were doing things they were clearly not supposed to be doing, but the buffs are still just behaving as buffs.
Because the buffs are acting the way theyâre intended, and Blizzard has chosen to leave them in, itâs possible they remain legal for this season to maintain competitive parity at the top end. If everyone in the highest bracket is utilizing these buffs, then anyone who is trying to compete would need to do the same or be at a disadvantage. For people who arenât competing for the title, it doesnât really matter because with or without the buffs, not much changes for us.
For anyone who is following a title race, as long as all the groups have the same access, then itâs competitively balanced. Itâs not really an exploit that should be punished as much as a situation that isnât ideal that was maybe discovered too late to fix without causing issues, but that should be disabled for s2 and beyond.
Iâm doubtful theyâre going to fix the buff stacking when the season ends in a few weeks. Getting rid of it now would effectively cap the keys for the rest of the season.
So the only way their game is viable is through an exploit? Thatâs a sad indictment of the whole affair.
Itâs an exploit yes just like people running 0 healer raids with everyone using healing gems. Itâd turn into a complete crap show if they removed the buff exploit given that you got a couple dozen +20s timed with people using it. Theyâd have to nerf down the key scaling.
Youâre not wrong, I was just making fun of how poorly things are being managed.
Itâs seem reasonable (perhaps itâs not) to believe they could identify the presence of those buffs in the absence of those classes and invalidate all of those runs. They probably donât think the effort is justifiable, which is probably indicative of the bigger problems they have with managing their code.
They are chasing away casuals with the difficulty and if theyâre not careful theyâll lose all the sweats who genuinely want fair competition. If cheating becomes acceptable lots of disillusionment and abandonment will be right behind it.
What probably happened was people figured it out during the weeks Blizzard was on vacation last month and started abusing it. By the time they got back itâs too little too late.
Just add it to the pile of Ls I guess.
Blizzard does not care, exploit early exploit often. Other than Zenkiki incident, blizzard has never actioned against exploits in Mplus. It is actually weird that they Dqâed Zenkiki abusers. Someoneâs friend within the Dev circle must have been affected.
There are still 6 weeks left (7 if we include offseason, but title calcs will happen on patch day), so if they fixed it now thereâs plenty of time for teams to adjust. There are still bugs in 11.1 that have been hanging out since like 11.0.5 though so Iâm not holding my breath on anything being done before the patch.
Competitive parity aside, itâs definitely an indictment of the current state of the M+ game that people are making the effort to do this, and Iâm sure it isnât just limited to title pushers either since this information is now more known. Iâm hoping the change to Guile for season 2 will smooth out the progression transition into 12s for people wanting to push to that level too, but that change alone is probably not enough to fix issues.
This isnât one of those things where if you remove it you can âadjustâ around it. Depending on what buffs you bring: the group can be losing anywhere from 5-10% more overall dps.
Naturally an invalidation of runs with the buffs would have to occur, which is probably the biggest reason nothing will be changed. Iâd be surprised if theyâre keeping server-side logs for these for more than a month without special intervention to retain.
All they have to do is wipe castable buffs when the key loads, people would rebuff in the 10second timer and thatâs it.
