I’m most curious about the Battleground Blitz feature. Because it sounds like they just finally made an official version of the Yolo RBGs where you’d join up with randos, often with no voice chat and just hope for the best.
Which I’m in favor for because large scale PvP is why I play this game. And being able to actually progress in the game doing that has felt like a struggle that might finally be over. I still remember when they refused to give you EXP for the damn things.
They hadn’t yet introduced the capability to pause your exp gains and twinks were/are all the rage. I remember people being angry when they’d accidently gain exp and progress into a new pvp tier.
Yeah, apparently it was never intended. But like the old saying goes If enough people like a bug, it’s no longer a bug, but a feature.
Seems blizz agrees that having to do all those quests again on other toons just to collect every appearance wouldn’t be fair. So in the next patch AFTER launch, they will make it officially a feature and you’ll retroactively collect any appearances you didn’t get
You can still pause EXP gained from BGs. And twinks still confuse me. Because there is some fun in a steam roll. But it’s a fleeting chuckle of elation.
True glory comes from a nail biter. Had a game of WSG somewhat recently where the Horde had us down 2 - 0 and people were deserting. I capped a flag while they were distracted and then a Holy Paladin managed to get a second in at the last moment, securing a victory.
Mostly it just power. You saw a lot of it in Remix as well, the loud minority that wanted to scream about how they were the best and no one could touch them.
That said there are some who see it as a personal challenge to extract as much performance out of their toon as they can. For this type, the other players and their toons are just a backstop to their performance specs.
I agree, my favorite moments in gaming are from those moments. The games that try to force that feeling though are unappealing… aka the soul-like games. Forcing every fight to be the equivalent of a D&D Save or Fail spell is just a weak experience for me.
I think my favorite memory was in Twin Peaks when a human Priest nearly mind controlled me over the waterfall but I used Will Of The Forsaken and turned the tables, sending him flying off the ledge with my own mind control.
“You conceited, wretched human! The dark isOUR DOMAIN”
My funniest moment by far was on my Dwarf Hunter who I was leveling concurrently with Horde toons.
So I experienced BG vertigo, got confused and stood there guarding the Horde flag on my Dwarf Hunter. Where I cut down the flag carrier thinking they were the dumbest player I’d ever seen for running the ball in the opposite direction.
When in reality I was God’s dumbest flag room guard.
Hunters are what I wish Shamans were without the need for pets. It’s a personal thing for me, but I just don’t like needing to rely upon a pet to be viable.
I don’t blame you. It’s a shame about the shape Shamans are in. And from what I hear, it’s not their DPS that’s the problem. It’s how their talents are laid out, it’s a mess for all three specs.
Don’t know enough about the shaman hero talents to comment on them. But I heard some mostly lukewarm things about them
Well I killed the right guy. Pretty decisively. But I’ll never get over how I was camouflaged with traps laid in the ENEMY BASE.
Bro was in the home stretch and got a premeditated ambush on his own home terf. The sad part was I wasn’t even stressing because I thought he was going the wrong way.
I mean having Amon somehow revive from the Lord of Hatred, Sin Lord of Wrath, Azmodan and Imperius(Valor turns to Wrath according to the Diablo End Times Prophecy mentioned in Diablo III and Amon is named after a Demon of Wrath and shares a voice actor with Imperius Archangel of Valor)'s essences blending due to Imperius impaling them all with the same Spear of Light he regularly wields thus fulling Rathma’s prophecy of the Spear of Light piercing Hatred’s Heart(his Soulstone) and that he who is in chains will be freed.
Amon(whose remnants(however they got there) within World Souls like Anu and Sargeras who shares a voice actor with him could potentially revive him from death) would also become the 7th Force coveting what the 6 Cosmic Forces hold fast in this Marvel/DC Comics-style shared Universe.
The Protoss, Terrans and Zerg would be the First Ones(Artanis shares a name with Galadriel ruler of Lorien which shares a name with the leader of the First Ones of Babylon 5 and the Zerg resemble the Shadows…).
Amon would be the Final Boss of both Diablo IV’s Second Expansion and The Last Titan!
I wish I was better at PVP, I lack the twitch reaction needed anymore. I usually end up that guy who makes people mad by bringing my bear druid into a BG.
