I actually enjoyed what leveling content I’ve experienced there.

But it really feels more like a weird spinoff than anything else. The biggest lore impact was extending sorting out Garrosh and Thrall briefly losing his elemental mojo.

I’d say the Mag’Har coming through a damn rift in spacetime to add their entire population to the already pretty booked with Forsaken refugees Orgrimmar is. But apparently they just keep digging more chasms because the Vulpera also got absorbed without much song and dance.

Seriously I was pretty interested in the Mag’Har because their war machines are sweet, and anything that gets the Goblins excited with their sheer love of combustion is definitely worth taking note of.

But thus far, at least as far as I know, their story contribution has been one cameo in Shadow’s Rising and a handful of tag along NPCs you could replace with Universe A Orcs without anyone noticing if you wanted to.

I really think if Azeroth proper is revisited they should seize Blackrock Spire and just crash tanks into the Dark Iron out in those wastelands.

Don’t even make it a faction war flashpoint. The Horde and Alliance are just standing there watching them kill eachother with increasingly absurd fire blasting war machines going;

Huh. So this is what diplomatic relations between these two look like. Well, moving on”.

Idk it’s just very funny to me to imagine the Dark Iron and Mag’Har doing basically this;

And everyone comes rushing in trying to defuse WW4 and they’re just cocking their heads at their allies like;

What? Oh you thought this was war! Hah! Nah we’re just killing some freetime on a Tuesday. They’re good sports about it

Seriously we just have like, miles of wasteland in the middle of the EK. Let the crazier than usual orcs and dwarves WWE Smackdown eachother out there because, like what else are they supposed to do? Something not destructive and violent? Pfft.

Have you visited Kiro in Org?

There is definitely music, if not exactly song and dance.

When are we going to get a Fan-Made version of Thrawn’s opinion of the rest of Warhammer 40K’s Factions?

I would love to hear Thrawn’s opinions on the Thousand Sons, the Cultists of Slaanesh, the Orks, the Death Guard, the Dark Eldar and the Necrons. Each one in it’s own video of course.

What would his thoughts be if he learned that the Warp is not in fact the Force but something unique to specific Galaxies in a variety of Universes? Would it be relief that the Waaaagghh can’t affect the Jedi nor the Inquisitors?

Man I play on RP servers. And I’m not apologizing for my decision to steer clear of groups of Vulpera.

Look we all like to swing babes but. Good God keep some things to yourself unless I asked.

Why do you dislike the vulpera?

Because they’re a very pandering race with next to no lore and no distinct purpose.

They’re just kinda there.

What fantasy are they offering?

They don’t have a storied heritage like the Trolls. They aren’t noble protectors of the Earth like Tauren. They aren’t strangers in a strange land they’ve a complicated history like the Orcs with. They aren’t misbegotten mutants trying to make a new life like the Forsaken. They aren’t gilded aristocrats brought low trying to forge a new legacy like the Sin’Dorei. They aren’t petropunk geniuses out for either fortune or death like the Goblins.

They’re not even the resident ‘Be chill and enjoy life’ stoners like the Pandaren.

They’re just kinda there. Inexplicably. And they annoy me because I think countless other options would’ve made better additions to the Horde.

Personally I would’ve given them outback Australian accents and have them be the Horde’s resident crazy uncles. Crooks with a heart of gold. Smugglers, thieves, transients and tramps.

But they don’t really have that. They just feel like late 90s, early 00s failed platformer protagonists who are here now.

And I’m fine with it. But I’ve no interest in them as a creative because Blizz has given me nothing to work with.

What’s their deal? What do they stand for? Why’d they pick the Horde even?

People have different tastes afterall. I loved ‘em after spending time with them in Vol’dun, helping them against the faithless sethrakk. Them and the draenei I find fascinating races.

Not everyone is going to like every race in game afterall

That’s fair. I’m very used to that attitude as a Forsaken main.

I just kinda wish they had more going for them. I’m a firm believer that there’s no bad story ideas, just bad execution. And after BFA I’m not adverse to the Horde having a more chill, cute race. Certainly could’ve used the image rehabilitation.

But Vol’Dun kinda sums up my issue with them. We were just starting to get to know them and then wham. Snake drama. And also that weird cultist temple I’m still confused by.

Like the Zandalari they border are one of the most well done factions in game. Every corner is dripping with atmosphere and so much of their history and culture can be gleamed organically from just wandering around and taking in the sights.

And the Vulpera are on the opposite side of that.

Idk just kinda weird to me a whole playable races origin is at one point being enslaved by snake people.

Because then we did literally the same story with the Giblins and Unshackled like two months later. But Azshara turned up for that at least. Like I don’t think I could name a Sethrak character with a gun to my head.

I just find them very ???.

And I still think leper gnomes were the superior choice. Because that would’ve tied into Mechagon at least and they’re already a presence within the Forsaken.

Everyone of the OG Red races got a cool cousin to hang out with but the Forsaken.

We did get goth elves eventually but. I’d have much preferred creepy tiny mad science bros tbh.

See, I have that problem with the forsaken. Outside of like Sylvanas, Nathanos, and the rogue chick that joined during BfA that I’m drawing a blank on, I couldn’t really tell one forsaken from another.

They’re certainly a interesting race to some people, but I couldn’t tell you much about them outside what the major plot points people know about them

See though if you read the quest logs and look around where they live there’s a lot of interesting stories and ideas floating around.

The Vulpera kinda don’t have that. Because they live in a camp with like, 7 people and are a B plot that wasn’t hugely important to the first chapter they featured in.

Like I’m 100% down with fleshing the Vulpera out more. But with so many long term Horde races with plothooks twisting in the wind, I’m not sure Blizz is ever going to get around to it.

I rather like the Vulpera where they’re at. Blizz can’t ruin the good things about them if they never touch them again. We seen what happens when blizz takes a liking to a horde race and wants to feature them heavily.

I’ll take a hard pass on that. But that’s me :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s unfortunately very true.

But yeah they’re pretty much the only WoW race I really have no interest in playing despite the PvPtastic racial. They literally let you camp on people.

Because yeah. Just don’t know enough about them to work an angle.

They’re basically the broke equivalent to goblins, except goblins were still seeded throughout the game world in vanilla, TBC and WotLK before they were made playable. Not to say that goblins don’t have their own portrayal problems, but vulpera kinda come off like filler to me.

I hear there’s a bloody awful contingent of their RPers, though. Kinda like the horde’s equivalent to people who RP as feral worgen.

And that’s perfectly fine. The race isn’t for everyone. But the lore they do have is pretty interesting. I’m fully aware they’re a niche horde race, but from what I’ve seen, they’re introduction into the horde was greeted by a warm reception by most people that I know

Makes squinty fox eyes at Sarm We don’t talk about those people. We use super soakers on them when they misbehave

Yeah I did like their intro quest but it remains the funniest tonal shift to me.

Like after BFA when there was a peon strike I fully expected Blizz was going to make me go full Pinkerton and just massacare them.

Instead we stop them from unionizing with meaningless job titles and pointless, non-commital benefits.

Which in retrospect may’ve been a cry for help coming from inside the house.

Tbf I can’t really hold that against the faction.

Like I rolled a human mage. And, thoughtlessly did so on Moonguard. Is supposed to be my Worgen’s distinctly human form but would really just exist alongside my undead warlock there so I could change money with WrA, MG and ED players. I used to run a pretty fun gambling mini-game RP thingy I’ve been trying to get back into and I figured thatd make everything go smoother.

Still have notes on the Elwyn quests I’ll maybe use for a post about it here eventually.

But uh. Made the mistake of logging off in Goldshire after completing the starter quests. Then logged back in on a Saturday evening.

Do I strike you as an easily shocked man? Because what I saw. Shocked me. Logged out and have not been back there since.

Won’t until I can divorce that from my perception of the Elywn questlines.

Idea is my Worgen Rogue/Mage is a D&D 5e Lore Bard and my Forsaken Warlock is a weird cosmic entity so they know spells to hop between ‘frequencies’ as I call them.

You can play the /roll 20 games with even more pretend money but I think half the fun of a bet is the payloss or payout.

Really more my Warlock’s show who I’ve made a sort of used car salesmen of souls, huckster type.

As someone who volunteers in political campaigns and works in sales, it barely qualifies as RP.

I hear ERP is a huge reason to dislike them. Certain people I won’t go into detail about latched onto them and immediately ruined them for roleplaying.
