Story Forum Community Lounge (Part 1)

I think I’ve gone with Water starters almost every time since I started on Red since it was and easy way to beat Brock. Both the Water and Fire starters look pretty cute there. But as noted, depends how their final forms look. Sun and Moon, which I never got around to playing, is probably the only one with a very bleh looking Water starter.

I’ve always bounced between Water and Grass. Hardly ever Fire. Black and White was the only time none of the starters shined to me.

Luckily, that was also one of the first ones where you could catch Eevees, so I tossed my starter and made an Eevee-lution team. One of my favorite playthroughs ever.

But Sobble speaks to me on a spiritual level.

That disgusting lizard could take a hike.
All these new pokemon disgust me.

They look like digimon rejects.

Obligatory post to get rid of the bad number bros, peace

I don’t get it.

I know we promised to keep the lounge drama-free, but I’m about to throw hands.

It’s extremely good that you don’t

Bring it on.

I don’t know, Serperior was pretty legit. Infernape is probably the only fire starter I thought was super cool. Emboar is a great concept (fire boar) that is ruined by being a humanoid.

I thought Sobble was supposed to be a tadpole at first before the trailer made it clear he’s a chamelon. I guess Kecleon is a normal type and this is a water type lizard. While Sobble is legit, I feel like Scorbunny is gonna be great in his final evolution.

No love for Grookey here

all of the new ones look bad. it isn’t just grookey.

Well I thought this each time I saw new pokemons since Gen 2 until I got used to them so I don’t know. Their artwork is way better than the cinematic btw. But as always I will have to wait for the final evolutions.

Grookey looks cool. I think the other two just set such a high bar. Plus, we have plenty of good monkeys between Primape, Infernape, Ambiopom, Slaking (probably not technically a monkey, but he looks like one), and the Elemental ones. And yes, some of these are apes versus monkeys, but whatever.

It seems like most of the big shot Villains know who Batman is these days: Joker, Two-Face, Bane, Ra’s Al Ghul, Poison Ivy, Professor Strange, Riddler, Lex Luther and Deathstroke all discovered Batman’s identity and with the exception of Riddler have taken advantage of it…

The only Big Shot Villains that haven’t discovered Batman’s identity are Penguin and Scarecrow…

???

What do you mean? Joker is disinterested in Batman being Bruce. It isn’t fun for him.

He actually refers to Batman by the name of Bruce during the Endgame Arc of the Comics. He used the knowledge of how Bruce became Batman to fuel an attempt to have Joe Chill repeat his crime on someone else.

He also sliced off Alfred’s hand in the Bat-Cave and in Death of the Family got him to wait on the captured Bat Family just to further spite Bruce.

The reason Joker doesn’t publicly reveal Batman’s identity is because Batman would disappear from Gotham and Joker doesn’t want that. The only major villain who would make Batman’s identity public is Scarecrow who thankfully doesn’t know Batman’s identity.

Anyone here watch/read HunterXHunter? SPOILERS if you’re unfamiliar with the series , but in the most popular arc of the series, there is this species of monsters called Chimera Ants that appears, and they’re these bug people who’s main goal is wipe out all other living species in the world.

What really stands out about these monsters is that they start out with a single flimsy queen who has the ability to reproduce by eating other creatures. By eating different kinds of creatures, the offspring she produces gain some of their best traits. Things basically play out from her eating small animals like fish or bugs resulting the birth of the first generation of primitive drones, to her getting her claws on humans and even some magical beasts to chomp on.

The newer generation of Ants not only become more intelligent, but they also become powerful enough to control powers from devoured Nen users (Nen being the power to harness your own “life enegry” to get super powers or whatever).

There are some drawbacks as well though, but if you read up to this point already, I’d recommend watching HunterXHunter for yourself. Be warned , it’s an anime and a long one at that, but honestly getting into I thought it was gonna be some crappy Dragon-Ball/One-Piece clone. Now I feel like a lot of best parts of Dragon-Ball or One-Piece had to have been inspired by this show.

Getting back on track, could you guys imagine if the next Aqir race (if they’re relevant again) became something like the Chimera Ants? I feel like with the Old Gods spawning, corrupting, and recruiting so many different races, it’d be so cool for them so unleash some nightmare amalgamation of their minions to become a race of ultimate lifeforms able to wield almost any power to their disposal.

We’d see characters being eaten up to produce major antagonists with their powers, whether it be using the light, the void, the elements, death magic, druid powers, and all the other traits of our classes + other forces as well. And maybe even those “drawbacks” from the the stronger generation of Chimera Ants could be applied to these Aqir as well…

The only things that I feel like would stink about a WoW version of Chimera Ants is that their story would most likely be a repeat of the actual Chimera Ants, and that they could pretty much be summarized as “an evil army of Me’dans.”:face_vomiting:

Also: I’ve never really pre-ordered a game before, but this new MK11 is looking purdy gud , might just reserve a copy just because of this trailer.

That’s a really neat idea! I really liked the Chimera Ant arc, minus some pacing issues toward the end, and think their abilities would make for a very interesting villain type. And playable Aqir would be a dream come true! I can only begin to dream of all the cool customizations they’d have – mandible types, wing types, vestigial extra limbs that hang freely and twitch around? Ahh, wonderful~

Also I’m very excited for the new Pokemon generation! I haven’t looked into the information quite yet, but I really like the names and logos. I’m thinking I’ll be Team Shield, 'cuz it’s such a pretty pink color on the logo ^.^

Squirtle’s still around. Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Pikachu, and Eevee just got their own games in November last year.

Pokémon isn’t WoW. They give you new things without burning down the old things you love.

He’s really growing on me, the more I see him. I think my love for Grass starters is slowly overtaking how much simians simultaneously underwhelm (Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour) or unnerve me (Aipom in the new Detective Pikachu trailer). I’m still waiting on the final evolutions, but Grookey is slowly overtaking Scorbunny. Since Scorbunny is based on an athlete (a soccer player), I have a sinking feeling it’ll end up yet another Fire/Fighting starter. In which case, it’d drop straight to the bottom.
