Story Forum Community Lounge (Part 1)

Maybe the next expansion will be mobile only.
hang on.

You guys create entire threads, in the story forum, and then forbid serious lore discussion and to top it off, start out talking about WHAT FOODS RELATE TO WHAT CHARACTERS?

IS THIS A JOKE? WHERE IS ASTON KUTCHER BECAUSE I AM GETTING PUNK'D.

GET OUT.

there's a general forum for a reason.
You know, by the guidelines, General Discussions wouldn't actually allow Community Lounges either?

All WoW forum guidelines say that the forums exist for discussion about WoW, whether it's the story forums on the story, the RP forums on roleplay, or the general forums on General WoW stuff. Not just general stuff.

Not only that, but lounges are a common practice among multiple types of forums, and have been going on for the better part of a decade. There's zero chance Blizz is not aware, and have done nothing to stop them.

If you want to know the relevance Story Community Lounges have, it's the community of the Story Forum. That's why moving it to another forum is meaningless, the point is to reach out to the people who post on Story, and not just talk in general.

What we actually talk about, whether it's our day, our problems or randomly what food characters would be, it's not to just vent, it to talk to other Story Forum goers. What we talk about is irrelevant, it's who we're talking to.

Besides, do you really expect anything to happen by telling people to get out? Story Forum Lounges have been happening since 2011, back during MoP. They aren't going to end because you don't think they belong.

Okay :) I'm gonna give it go

Saw the thread -- the questline looks fabulous! Glad they're doing such a good job with it. Thanks for the thread pointing everything out, the album was fun to go through and see whose names I could recognize :)

Thank you again to everyone who wanted to be part of that thread.

And thank you for making it! It inspired such great discussion. As my major illness has recently shifted from something I was trying to beat to something I have to live with forever, I too have found some Warcraft in my coping journey.

Holy !@#$.

This thing, man. I've been a little less excited for Smash this time around, mainly due to the aforementioned illness, and not necessarily connecting with Ridley, K. Rool, or the Belmonts, but the latest direct... absolutely ten out of ten hype right now.

I'm a pretty tearful person. Very easy to get me crying. I cried at the Broken Shore cinematic, at the BFA reveal cinematic, Old Soldier, all that sort of thing. So, of course, with this trailer, pure waterworks. I'm so happy my little precious baby Kirby, my favorite character from my favorite game series, made it out okay! But the little puff comes back to an empty world. A haunted world. And that song's playing (the Japanese version is, of course, better~). And the gameplay looks so fun and new and... gah, I just lost it.

On rewatches, though, I just keep laughing at Captain Falcon getting freakin' toasted while trying to hop into his go-kart. It's even funnier than Snake getting obliterated in his box fort. Gets me again and again without fail.

Super excited for Spirits Mode, too. I've been dreaming up various ideas for Warcraft Spirit fights, like a Jaina fight that's Rosalina with a single Ice Climber, and lots of those freezing items spawning. I can't wait to see all the creative encounters they come up with in the mode! Perfect for a single-player junkie like me :D

I listened to the Digimon World soundtrack of File City during the night and I started crying like a B word. My childhood was garbage but that teeny ray of light of happier times just hit me way too damn hard.

Oh goodness, that song hits me hard, too! I never made it much further than the Birdramon encounter in that game, but dang did I have fun getting there again and again. The item shop minigame was amazing to little me!

Maaaannnnn WCIII Reforged..... it's all I'll ever do for like, months if not years.

Right?! What an awesome surprise! I think I've been expecting some Warcraft 3 news for a while, but an entire remake is beyond my wildest dreams. It looks so, so good! Going to get the deluxe edition ASAP so I can go Blight The Alliance with my Real Working Meat Wagon :D

I just saw the new Worgen models and I am so happy I could die.

I might actually make a Worgen now! Their little fangs are soooooo cute :3

Yep, for High Elf threads!

For real, though, this is just a fun off-topic thread. A place for everyone to hang out away from the heated debates. To chill out and talk about life, video games, or Deep Lore with Professor Yven. It's okay by the moderators, and okay by all the posters here. Never takes up more than a single slot on page one, either. No harm, no foul, right? It's all in good cheer :)

My, my.
Someone's on their menstrual cycle. Please come back and be more offended by something that has absolutely nothing to do with you so I can laugh more. SF Forum could always use more yucks.

Oh my good gracious I LOVED that song. The Monochrome Shop! Those damn customers were so hard to please sometimes.
Ah...good times.
Jesus...I haven't commented in one of these for a while, have I?

Why don't you stay a while, listen, lurk, and then eventually post a response here when you feel like adding something to the (non)serious conversation, other than your useless incessant whining about a community of people who you so rudely interrupted without even making a proper introduction?

In the meantime, as someone who began my involvement on this forum several years ago by basically doing the same thing (oops), I suggest that the new topic of conversation should focus on Warcraft 3: Reforged hype/nostalgia.

Have fun!
Im sorry but coming to the lore based forum and declaring no serious lore based discussion is just... oxymoronic though... and if it had to do with warcraft I probably wouldnt have ranted but all of a sudden Morrowind is being discussed? hit me like a one two punch.

playing devils advocate to myself, the sense of community you guys have does sound nice. thank you for the responses and sorry for the vulgar interruption. I would do well to undertake more of a live and let live approach.

Hey, I once thought the Lounges were silly and didn't partake in them, back when they first started to be a thing. I also wondered what relevance it had to a Story Forum.

But, I've come to see how good these Lounge type threads are. In a way, it helps keep us civil. They remind us that we are people behind these things, and that we have thoughts and feelings outside of just WoW. I think the lounge just helps keep a calmer atmosphere, here people are people, so it's harder to just judge people by what fires them up.

That and it's a nice place to just jump in while on the forums to temporally take our minds off of lore and instead engage with the community here. Sure we could just leave the forums and go somewhere else... but pfft I've come to enjoy hearing what the people on this forum have to say.

I'm not a frequent Lounge poster, or Story Forum poser for that matter, but I love the atmosphere the Lounge usually has.

It's mainly because we already have an entire forum for lore discussion. It's what every other thread is for.

And the reason we keep lore discussions out of the Lounge is because of how... "debate-oriented" most of us are. Look at any thread, and you're bound to find pages of posters going back and forth. That's not bad, in of itself. But the Lounge was made specifically to let posters get away from all the arguing while still interacting with the community.

Yup got that sense already, I could tell by the responses to my undignified comment I was dealing with a much more chill/mature group than initially thought. Carry on chaps!

As far as the Warcraft III mention I dont have much input as I never played it more than once at a LAN party. And it was Frozen Throne, and even further, some kind of casino addon/mod... i do remember it being really fun though, and one of the reasons I even gave WoW a shot when it released. Will they be undertaking Frozen Throne as well?

Yeah, the site says that it'll have TFT. I assume it just wasn't ready to show off.
Not really for the Lore bunker, but it looks like they are looking at completely overhauling the massive grind that is leveling, view the current system as unsustainable.

interesting... only takes about 5-6 days of /played to do it though, not even rushing. I've always thought the system of choosing which places/expansions to quest in at 20 level intervals could use an overhaul though.

Its more about that 1-1xx that they view as unsustainable from what Ion stated.

Edit: Also you run into problems like BfA where you get 10 levels of nothing, no new abilities, not new spells, just azerite armor stuff.

I ran into a weird little problem on one of my alts. She was about halfway through Legion content when they first overhauled the questing system. I recently picked her back up, finished all the zones, and am only level 109. There are no more quests, no more bonus objectives, no more profession quests, and the rest of her Hunter campaign is locked behind 110. I can only suspect something went wrong when exp was recalibrated.

Incidentally, does BfA still do the thing where you can go there up to 2 levels early?

Hmm, I honestly couldn’t tell you, my DH sat for a while collecting rested and like half a level or so from the orderhall campaign. She’s the only alt who is even at legion or above.
Mine had rested exp pretty much the whole time from leaving her parked in her Order Hall. There's just no more pre-110 content. I just wonder if I'll have to take her to Kul Tiras to get her to 110, then go back and tie up some loose ends, or if I can even do that. I might look into that tomorrow.
You could just wait for an invasion to spawn and get it that way.

As of this post there's one coming up in about 7 hours if you aren't too fussed about waiting.
are you guys fully loomed up to 110? ive only felt the slow down 110-120, used get about 5 levels in each zone when first launched, now finding myself going through the whole KT campain, plus a dungeon or 2 per level, and daily island expeditions. but am also doing less side-quests now that I know which are required... hmm.
