Anyway, I’ll be in Florida on Saturday for a week, so if I’m not super active you guys know why

I have a few problematic favs myself.

Thought I’ve honestly given up on most of the main cast, as they collectively have the personality of a box of cotton-blend socks and the spinal fortitude to match, unless it’s their turn to stand in the spotlight and blither about honor (vaguely), courage, hope, and never giving up despite [insert traumatic backstory/event here].

The only one who still has an intact distinguishable character is AU Thrall, and I can’t type her name reliably because it’s like a Dragonage elf name

Yeah at this point idk how people can like these characters. Because everything about them is so subject to sudden and immediate change.

Like I nominated Gray over Faranell because Faranell was a bit more reserved. But then they just gave him Gray’s personality and I’m not going to pretend I care because I’m just happy to have a cackling mad scientist on hand.

Also nice to see Keever’s still milling around. I wonder how his work’s progressed;

"Apothecary Keever says: What is this? Did Keever ask for a sheep? Keever wanted a weapon of great power and all he got was this sheep. Keever is very disappointed.

Apothecary Keever pokes the wooly sheep repeatedly. (sheep explodes)

Apothecary Keever says: Keever is most pleased."

The main characters tend to develop this amorphous hero lump one size fits all personality. The way Thrall responds is the way Jaina responds is the way Lor’themar responds is the way Baine responds is the way Velen … you know.

Side characters are still allowed to have quirks, though.

Seriously. I’m trying to remember like a favorite line from any of them in recent memory. And off top I’ve got nothing.

Hell Denathrius is the only one I can immediately remember because I love how sassy he was in the bossfight.

Look, Remornia! These daring rebels have persevered through every obstacle put before them! It seems we have little choice left but to surrender”.

Damn shame he never called us a miserable pile of secrets though.

I’ve been trying to post on the forums for DAYS but the website kept telling me I didn’t have characters.

Anyways, hi everyone. Long time no see.

Welcome back

I don’t think we’ve met. Hello there.

Hello! I can’t even remember the last expansion I was here for. I think I left probably mid-legion or very early BfA?

I ran into Zerde (Idk if he still posts) in LFR a couple months ago.

Oh, that’s why we never met. I was 16 and not using the story forums when BfA came out.

That was absolutely the smart move.

The general reaction to the past two expansion’s narratives has more or less been;

Just had one of my posts flagged as inappropriate yet I don’t know which it is. Doesn’t seem to be one I made recently.

Edit: It’s one from two weeks ago. Someone and her friends must be in a bad mood today. Get thicker skin.

See, I really didn’t hate BfA. However, the moment it was announced (while hyped for that awesome cinematic. Felt the Pride of both factions) I immediately expected to be disappointed so I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t completely terrible. So I had a good time.

That being said, I didn’t want to sit through another “XXX did nothing wrong” for 2 years. I lived through the Garrosh days here didn’t need it for Sylvanas too.

Shadowlands tho? Get me the hell out I. Dragons? Sold. I love it, it’s going to be perfect.

It’s happening all around.

Had it happen to me 3 days ago and I falsely accused two people for it due to being in a heated debate with them at the time. Coincidences are a funny thing.

Now a second one. I’m getting brigaded.

Hopefully blizzard will take action since my suspension was overturned due to my post being false flagged.

They don’t like it when people abuse the flag system and have evidence to prove it.

Someone flagged your posts for calling someone mentally ill and your honestly upset over it?

Talk about getting thicker skin. And you should grow up while you’re at it

BFA had it’s moments.

Zandalar and Kul Tiras contain some of the best proper additions to the setting ever put in game and gave us several positively delightful new characters like Flynn Ryder and Bwomsamdi (who technically was around before, yeah, but he went from being just another vague deity to the best part of every scene he’s in).

And honestly I’ll say I think the Covenants in SL are all well done. Poorly implemented gameplay wise as you got gang pressed into one if you wanted to play competitively, but Priest’s BiS was Venthyr and I’m an easy lay for vampires so I was happy.

They just had the problem of being so removed from Azeroth that it was kinda hard to care. As really they could’ve set it on a hitherto unmentioned alien world for how little they had to do with WoW’s feel and overall setting.

And that became a big problem with the areas that just weren’t conceptually interesting. In particularly the Maw and the Jailor.

And to give you an idea of how removed Zereth Mortis is - it genuinely made me stop playing and go finish Halo Infinite instead. Because it’s a cool looking Halo Ring but I’ve no idea why tf my Forsaken Priest is on it and frankly don’t care enough to find out.

Still, characters like Sire Denathrius and places like Ardenweald and Maldraxxus might be nice to have around in the future. At the very least Plague Diviser Merelith got to crossover with RAS and I’m still so happy about that.

But overall the main character, Sylvanas, had one of the most baffling, offensive and completely pointless storylines I’ve seen in fiction. So now that that’s over with maybe we can beam back down to Planet Sensible and have a fun fantasy adventure that doesn’t necessitate talking about fun, fun, fun escapist topics like genocide and trauma.

It really is like the writers of a Saturday morning cartoon decided they were perfectly qualified to write a Game of Thrones adaptation and that went over exactly how you’d expect.

Boy am I peeved. I typed a post here and as I was gonna post it, my phone service went bonkers. I was out and about. Now that I got home, I see it didn’t post. And the convo has moved on.

Anyway.

Sylvanas has some great lines and her Voice Actress delivers them well.

The throne room scene in BfA had a few classics.

“Muzzle your dog, your majesty.”

“How rude, sister. You’re a guest in my home.”

And I really loved : “Can’t I?” from the Warbringer.

Oh yeah no shade on the talent. And I’ve frequently said she is an amazing ish talker - that was one of my favorite traits of hers. I’m not lying when I said she was my favorite.

But Edge of Night was such a slap in the face. And then BFA was them quadrupling down on that and having such a milquetoast cop out ending that requires the character to be objectively stupid for any of it to make sense was so completely exasperating.

Suffice to say if WoW wasn’t the only place where I could find something like the Forsaken I outright would not ever consider patronizing this company again. And keep in mind I did so recently accidentally because if the incompetence didn’t make me want to quit finding out the company was outright malicious certainly did.

Trouble is they do actually have a truly fantastic core product that I actually quite like. So like a dumb ex I at least hear them out when they swear they’ve changed this time.
