Pretty excited for Peele’s new film NOPE.
Get Out I felt was a victim of it’s own success. Because I didn’t see it as much else but a promising start from a new director. Though I did actually appreciate it a lot more when I rewatched it months later after the hype died down.
Us I absolutely adored and it told me Peele 200% was the real deal. Get Out was pretty audience friendly and more on the horror-comedy borderline. But Us was truly some surreal nightmare logic stuff. And the reveal the dopplegangers were not an isolated incident should be taught in film school.
I’ve seen so many horror movies that it’s rare to be caught off guard. I wanted to shake his hand and personally thank him for reminding me there were still fresh ideas out there.
And so far NOPE’s trailer was perfect. So many are more movie thesis statements rather than little tastes that make me curious and wanting to know WTF this is about. So, high hopes.
Only thing that was too much was the Saurfang Cinematics where there wasn’t any. I mean would have killed to see an Overwatch Style Cinematic of all the Characters for once. Jaina didn’t get a Cinematic, Tyrande, Lor’themar, Alleria, Turalyon, Maiev, Malfurion, Heck Nathanos, Rexxar, Muradin, Geblin, and etc that wasn’t ingame like more of the Style of Live Action.

There was a strange thing on TV the other day. It was some political ad. I was brushing my teeth, the TV was on in the other room, local news. I wasn’t paying attention much, some political ad came on, and they said : “fights against pride and the GLBT agenda, supports small businesses,”
I was like wow, I never heard of fighting against pride. I guess that is a talking point in politics now? The fact that I only heard it and didn’t see it almost makes me wonder if it was a parody.

Honestly, with the state of Fox News rn I wouldn’t doubt it. The right came for women with anti-abortion, they will come for same sex marriage and LGBT rights next.
I read today that the UK quietly removed abortion as a human right in thier declaration of human rights. That is scary, the world is shifting to Authoritarian Right totalitarianism and they have conservatives afraid of the dems as a smokescreen.
What good is protecting births when the world will be unlivable in 50 years due to climate change?

It boggles my mind that we, as humanity, can be smart enough to slam two particles together at high speed and recreate the big bang in miniscule scale but have yet to figure out basic human rights.
What a pathetic blip we are in an infinite cosmos.

We’re alive at one of the most creative and exciting times in history. There’s so much to find out and room to grow. Human rights are a work in progress, but most of the lurches are forward.
The important thing is to make sure that your life makes others’ lives better. However you want to do that.
Honestly, I feel like human rights wise, as long as you’re not in the USA there’s a lot to look forward to.
If you’re in the USA, I think there’s a lot of conflict to get prepared for.

A woman running for a school board position in Pensacola advocated the lynching of doctors involved in gender affirmation treatment. To raucous applause. So that’s fun.
Nothing says Pro Life like wanting to kill doctors.

Jesus Christ! …(I say unronically.) That’s terrible. America becomes more and more like Gilead everyday.

China is making some sus moves right now. My uncle who is a teacher who has been living there just got out and back to Canada before they closed the borders, they are tightening censorship laws, and prohibiting foreign travel. My gut is telling me they are slowly retreating from the world because the threat of nuclear war is escalating. There was a PSA radio broadcast the other day, on what to do in the event of a nuclear strike (since I live in a capital city, we’d be a prime target)
I’m just going to sit in my house with my boyfriend and my cats and go out nicely. But I doubt Vancouver would be a prime target.

True north strong and free… Or something.
About half my WoW group is Canada. 4 of em are in BC, 4 in Ontario, 1 Alberta. Rest are Colorado and Texas… Or some other god forsaken southern state.
