Idk what the Alliance hesitance with PvP is about. At least for my classes the racials have been clutch. Stoneform to break every last DoT and slink into camouflage like the Predator. Darkflight to catch the casters just out of the reach of my claws. And Shadowmelding at a Greater Pyroblast is especially delicious when you timed it so you could type /laugh first.
Sylvanas’s justification was if “I do this for the Jailer, then I can remake the world to be a just world…”
They are not even close to being on the same moral scale. Sylvanas got duped into doing this because she believed what happened to Lirath was not fair, and she thought she could fix it. While Aleria’s hate for the orcs is also about Lirath, she just wants straight up revenge, at least Sylvanas did what she did because she wanted to undo Lirath’s fate. Alleria just wants bloody revenge
Alleria is way worse.
Maybe if Alleria was actually burning orc babies alive and yeeting them to Super-Hell with FULL KNOWLEDGE of what she was doing.
I think there’s more to it to unpack. Alleria is mad at herself that she didn’t stay to protect her family. She rejected her birthright, she doesn’t get to claim revenge when she was not there to protect her family. Sylvanas has more blame for Lirath’s death because she was the Ranger-General, it was her job to protect him, but at the end of the day they both need to get over it, because Lirath knew that he was putting himself at risk, he wanted to be a fighter, being a fighter carries the risk of dying.
I can’t wait for more Windrunner sister drama. I think in this specific family dynamic, Sylvanas now has the high ground over her sisters. She’s wiser and has more experience. And yes, I am hopeful for a time in the near future where she will have to stand up against her sister and protect her people, the Horde. I still have hope that Sylvanas will rejoin the Horde. Standing up to Alleria will be part of what earns her way back in.
We can debate all day about what the characters might do.
But all we can do is guess or speculate about how far Alleria or Valeera will go. They have some pretty morally charcoal grey choices under their belts, sure…
But we know exactly how far Sylvanas will go, which is grinding up nightsaber kittens (and her own soldiers) up for fuel in the canonical worst fate in the WoW universe.
Like, I have no trouble going “Alleria is dodgy” or “Valeera is dodgy”. But “worse than Sylvanas”? Nah. What I can fully admit is that Mama and Daddy Windrunner raised some violent nutjobs. Lirath probably would have beat a heckler to death with his flute if he’d lived.
“Don’t kill the Orcs, genocide is bad!”
“It’s fine to genocide Night Elves, they’re just fictional characters!”
I desire pad see ew but there’s no restaurant in Bogotá that sells it
You could always try making it.
What bothers me about the Sylvanas trauma thing is she is living in a kingdom full of people that experienced the same thing.
Her one unique point of torment was having her body Snow White’d with a known sex predator but frankly she wiped that off like it was a booger on her sleeve. It comes up so briefly it’s actively weird they officially made Dar’Khan a leering MRA pick up artist, stupid hat and all. And frankly Lor’Themar’s association makes his inability to talk to Thalyssra a lot less endearing. Maybe the Regent Lord isn’t a nice boy, he’s just a quiet boy.
Otherwise oh yeah Sylvie it sure is a pisser you were murdered and twisted into a weapon that was used to destroy your homeland. Must’ve been real hard to see your friends refer to you as a monster they’d kill on sight. Maybe you should talk about it with LITERALLY ANYONE NEARBY YOU THAT HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM.
Seriously the Forsaken aren’t exactly go for healthy coping mechanicms but even Putress didnt get to that body count. And I’ll note most of the Forsaken are pretty normal.
Revisit Tranquillen sometime. The Forsaken outright pulled the Sin’Dorei out of the fire. The NPCs are very forthcoming about how the Scourge would be upon Eversong again if not for their timely arrival. Sylvanas might’ve had ulterior motives but the Deathguard and Apothecaries out there actively dragging elves to safety decidedly did not.
It’s really hard to play that and not hate the Sylvanas book even more. Because while shes out there crying about her personal injustices ya got dudes that used to be farmhands fighting for their life going;
“I do not know these people. I do not know if they will ever thank me, or even so much as not cut me down the moment I turn my back. But I know the terror of the Scourge, and that it cannot befall anyone. And so - I fight. I fight until the last ligaments holding me together break”
And then Sylvanas is off somewhere shrieking into a pillow over how Hauldron said some unkind things. Christ’s sake.
Tyrande is a mean character and I wish she’d get killed off already.
It would have been 100% a better story if the Night Warrior curse killed her. There has to be a moral story where revenge doesn’t pay off. The Night Elves are xenophobic isolationists and they deserve everything bad that happens to them.
She’s not murdered Night Elves.
I’ll personally never forgive The Gathering. She did them worse than Arthas. He was just some trust fund lust they had to call Prince. She was someone they chose to call Queen. Someone they chose to call their Dark Lady.
And she shot them in the face as they ran to her, displaying their loyalty, knowing full well they’d be sent screaming to a fate painful beyond description from personal experience.
That is the greatest betrayal I’ve read in fiction. And I’m forgiving of a lot. But traitors deserve the first circle of hell.
who cares about the stupid Desolate Council? I don’t.
Parqual Finitas was an idiot.
The Desolate Council were the traitors, they would have defected to the Alliance just to follow a Menethil. just to restore some pipe dream about Lordaeron being restored and them getting accepted by the living, who still want them dead.
Look where that got us, a Menethil giving away half our claimed lands to the Alliance. We have an Alliance shill leading the Forsaken.
If that was their choice that was their choice. It is not in the Forsaken’s way to tell another free willed undead how to ‘live’ .
Much less massacare them over it.
they were massacred because they were defecting to the Alliance. They were traitors, and like you said, they deserve nothing less than Hell for that betrayal.
The only Forsaken EVER hunted down were killed because they stole from RAS and tried to hand the artifacts over to the Kirin Tor.
That is treason. Simply deciding to go your own way, wherever that may take you, isn’t treason. The Forsaken actively encourage doing so.
Look Ren we’ve been over this. The Banshee Queen died the moment Edge of Night dropped. It just took Before The Storm for the bullet to hit and 9.1 for it to reveal itself as an inoperable and fatal wound.
She was my favorite character too. I just made peace with this already.
you are not a morally superior Forsaken fan, just one willing to accept whatever bad writing the writers throw at you just because they are finally giving the Forsaken narrative attention.
I actively talk about how It’s fine actually to murder people with chemical weapons and raise them from the dead.
I don’t give a crap about morality I give a crap about Forsaken lore lol.
I…WHAT.
I’m sorry do we have the option of just throwing out the parts of lore we don’t like?
Because then Stormwind doesn’t exist, Worgen are on the Horde and Voss is my girlfriend.
Also Jania is also now undead and by undead I just mean goth with glowing eyes and also my girlfriend and shes got a big wizard hat like that big chick from RE: Village and she uses that for a kinda burlesque tease and ████████████████████████████████.
And then of course I mean you ask what to do with said conjured carrot and ████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████.
But specifically; ████████████████████████████████████████
And the dwarf spanked the baboon.
