It would be a lovely thing if y’all created a “No Mount Zone” around the NPCs for this event. I can’t even tell if I’ve interacted with them all because of the (seemingly parked) mount clutter.
Grab a little Baby Spice and problem solved
Otherwise, you’ll want to post a suggestion like this over in the General Discussion forums or use the in-game suggestion feature to pass it along to the development team.
You can put a ticket in. It’s called “zone disruption”. I actually asked this question in the ticket I put and here was there response:
Thanks for contacting us regarding this individual disrupting gameplay for you and others. There is no in game reporting (such as right clicking their portrait) for griefing. For that reason, this is an acceptable means to report this to us.
Putting in a ticket about this isn’t something a GM can help in this event. The GMs themselves can’t force folks off their mounts or place a no mount zone around an NPC or the like.
Actually, they can. They can dismount the person, but more likely the person doing this will get a ban.
As I quoted above, Blizz is actually telling you that putting in a ticket for zone disruption is the proper way to report these types of activities.
While it may be possible for a GM to do that, it’s really not needed. Nor can they possibly have a GM sitting at every single event location kicking people off their mounts.
Historically, the advice give here is to use a little of the baby spice or simply zoom in as you can click the NPC through the mounts anyway.
Just imagine thousands of people putting in tickets because someone was on their mount. By the time a GM gets to the ticket, it’s extremely unlikely that the player would even still be there.
While that GM may have chosen to encourage tickets for this, in my opinion, it’s a huge waste of time and resources when there’s also a simple player-solution.
This would be my take as well. With the current wait time, it’s highly unlikely that a Game Master would be able to do anything with the report. The support website indicates “Zone Disruption” under the following:
If you’d like to report a player who is actively preventing you from playing (e.g. intentionally trying to crash the server), please give us the name and realm of the character, and a brief description of the activity.
While standing on top of an NPC can make it inconvenient, it doesn’t actually prevent interacting with them.
As mentioned by Perl, there are often in-game tools you can employ to help mitigate the impact. You can also use targeting macros (/tar
or /target
) and your keybind for “Interact with Target” (Key Binding → Targeting → Interact with Target) should that become necessary.
Yes - it is annoying when this happens. If you’d like to suggest that “No Mount” areas be added around event NPCs, that would need to be submitted either through the in-game suggestion form. You could alternatively create a separate suggestion post in either the General Discussion or perhaps Quests forums.
That’s what I used to do back when I played. All you have to do is /tar npc name. Then bind a key (I used ~) to “interact with target”. It is impossible to “block” an NPC. Even if people are grouped up on it making it impossible to click on, /tar and interact with target will still work.
Also, note that it is rare that people are intentionally blocking the NPC. In general, it’s just other players like you wanting to conduct their business.
Yes, occasionally there are coordinated efforts to “block” the NPC. It’s dumb, because no one can ever “block” you interacting with the NPC (see advice above). And in the end, when they see that people aren’t bothered by it (meaning don’t complain about it in Trade), they get bored and move on.
Easiest thing to me is to enable friendly NPC frames with CTRL+V and click their frame that will show up regardless of who is standing there. Clicking their frame as if you did on their actual NPC body should still perform the same functions(like right clicking their frame at a repair vendor to open up the repair/sales window).
