Store transmog and why It's a problem

i had to edit my Original reply cause it seemed to sassy and added " its a gamble if new players will even try wow and stay to buy a store mount/service.

that’s another thing. why hasn’t our sub cost gone down since the addition of store mounts?

It doesn’t change the fact we’re still being charged for them, which is the point…

I was literally trying to make amends…I said sorry 4 times throughout my response to you…and you’re going to be mean to me? Like why do you have to act like this?

Because they have to pay money now to get them if they want them…? Where as prior to that everything was obtainable in the game…?

I don’t. Like I said there’s people who have said they’d pay $100 at the beginning of every expansion to instantly unlock flying. There’s people out there who would pay to have the best gear in the game and not have to play at all.

Which is fine, this entire thread is about my opinion which is they shouldn’t exist in the shop…

Please point out where I’ve stated otherwise? Multiple times I say “this is my opinion” in fact, in the OP at the very very end which you may not have read I literally say It’s my opinion…

…I … I can’t reply to this without being snarky, moving on.

I meant a post about the items being released, not blizzard’s statement…stay with me here.

I’m asking you personally.

…huh? If they didn’t fail, why didn’t they add more?

Care to elaborate and share? 'Cause there’s no other game that’s alive and well that charges $60-70 every year and $15 a month and charges for in-game items

I’ve never forced my opinion on anyone, I’ve merely stated it. :woman_shrugging:

You should let them speak for themselves, unless you got permission from them to speak for them.

I literally said over 4 times that I had no way to back up what I remember hearing when playing during wrath…you acknowledged I said that and are still yelling about it…

Bye…I’m sorry you’re so mad at me. :frowning: I wish we could just be friends…I don’t have any :frowning:

You can get anything off the Blizzard Store for World of Warcraft using gold via the token and transfer it to Blizzard balance. Instead of farming some generic random quest or doing the same raid 921383 times for one piece you need, you can pick and choose where you want to make your gold and buy anything off the store you want… for gold.

The shop has been there for over a decade. I remember I bought the Sparkle Pony off of there right around the time Cataclysm was released, if not just slightly before it was in 2009/2010.

I remember buying the helm transmog a decade ago as well.

It’s not as if this is something Blizzard pulled out of thin air. There’s still tons of transmog items being added into the game every expansion, every patch. Arguably, the ones for the covenants look fantastic and better than anything on the shop.

Blizzard makes the bulk of their profit from shop purchases, this includes boosts, WoW token, pets, mounts, toys… at the end of the day, this is how they continue to keep making content for us. Do you think fifteen bucks a month does anything for their financial well-being? That’s peanuts considering how much the cost of living has skyrocketed since 2004 when it was released.

Hell, I can’t name a single service I’ve had for 16 years on a monthly fee that didn’t increase their fees and rates on me. Every single service I am subscribed to has raised their prices over the years… EVERY… single… one.

This is cheap entertainment. Even if you’re broke and don’t make a lot of money, you can farm stuff and buy your own game time with gold. You can buy anything off the shop with gold.

I made a new toon last night on a new server, got skinning and herbalism, did questing through Zuldazar on my new Druid and he already has 18,000 gold just from quest rewards, vendor trash, bonus objectives, selling leather and bones from skinning on the AH and herbs.

Blizzard has had mounts in the store for 10-11 years. They didn’t stop putting new ones in the game. There’s hundreds of ingame mounts to get.

They aren’t going to stop making new transmog gear to acquire in-game because of it.

Anyway, to each their own, it’s all cosmetic and it’s not player power, so I think any legitimate reasons to be up-in-arms is far-fetched, that’s MY opinion and you aren’t going to change it.

Why hasn’t it gone up with the loss of subscribers?

because if it goes up we lose more subs. atleast thats what i believe would happen.

They have accounting for inflation over the last 15 years if you wanna bring economics into it

My guess would be because a F2P game would attract more players and once they had a “fuller” Cash Shop the more amount of F2P players using a Cash Shop would be more income than less people with subscriptions.

Does that make sense? lol

So, we agree optional items that sell on the store are good then.

Saying “Me and the other’s like how the game is” implies there’s at least 2 other people aside from herself. So no, saying you is “others” doesn’t make sense.

i dont think inflation can come into play when speaking of video game subscription but my thing was about " hey there making a killing why aren’t they lowering the sub cost to get more people in to buy more store items "

Trust me. WOW is a good enough game to go free to play. Player numbers would 100% increase, no doubt about it. Even during content droughts like the one we’re experiencing now.

Most mobile games are free to play and they do extremely well by selling optional stuff that people are more than willing to spend their money on. World of Warcraft has the potential to take this to a whole other level.

What?

yea idk man i get your stance i just cant wrap my head around it going F2P.

i know it might seem silly it just doesn’t seem like a product to be touched by inflation. sorry I’m going to reply as best as i can but there’s multiple people replying

But it does. 15 dollars in 2004 had more buying power. Your sub should be in the 20s now if it grew with inflation. You are paying less today

Oh I know, you apparently never do.

I 100% agree. If games like RUNESCAPE can thrive since 2001 with a large free to play model, WoW will be more than okay. It would probably even for the best at this point, instead of trying to triple dip off their fanbase.

Everything gets touched by inflation.

i can understand that works with tangible items but with videogame subs… idk i dont think it works like that

Yes, it does the servers cost money, require power, and require maintenance all of those things are affected by inflation.

You pay you sub with MONEY and money has a 2 to 3 percent per year inflation
