I don’t hate the people who choose to spend their money on the items. I just have a problem with the principle behind the creation and selling of things like this transmog set. Do what you want with your money, you’ve literally earned it. This practice just has detrimental affects on the game and it could get worse and to the point where it will be more obvious to more people later down the road.

Like I said, I mostly get it. My brain just isn’t wired to make it a big deal for me. I respect that others care. I just don’t, at least not much.

I just don’t get how you can be okay with being charged more for stuff you shouldn’t be getting charged for and should be in the game due to cooperate greed.

If you bought a luxury vehicle, would you say “I don’t really care” if they tried charging you for automatic windows, air conditioning and cruise control?

A plethora, especially after this season. You realize rating was inflated to over 3600 right? Maybe you don’t PvP but that’s INSANE. No, I know you don’t PvP because you would say “oh I know, arena ratings were insanely inflated. You could literally pug to get gladiator which is unheard of in the history of WoW almost!”

This is why people do not see a problem. They have kept it small and only cosmetic.

Which I see you’re fine with, but everything should be obtainable in game. We pay a monthly sub and an expansion fee for them to do this. They’re taking that money and paying people to make stuff and charge MORE money for it? It’s just absurd.

Definitely. It’s why they added this transmog with the option of it being “free” for 6 month users. They knew those hardcore fans would defend the decision even if it meant a terrible precedent for the game. They’re easily manipulated and it shows.

The shop has not gone beyond cosmetic in over a decade.

It should have never been created in the first place, though…

It has even taken things out to keep it smaller so that they could add new things without becoming a huge store.

They took things out to make people feel like there’s some sort of rarity and that they need to buy the store items or they might miss out on something forever.

There’s literally no reason to take out completely unique store mounts at all once they’ve already been added and your whole “to keep it small” opinion is kinda out there…

More alarming to me is the fact that now we’re hearing people (like that High Elf situation someone else on the forums was just alluding to) state they are being doxxed. My position is simply this. All of us have had to make a good-faith covenant with Blizzard, and provide them with our real identity so as to have an account with them so as to play the game, and pay for it monthly.

Most of us as I would assume, are simply playing the game and are content under normal circumstances to just do our own thing. But for many others, particularly those that engage in online harassment and doxxing, that doesn’t seem to be good enough anymore.

Thus I have to ask the question. “Where and how is this information becoming commonplace enough that people are capable of doxxing WoW players?” Where and how is it being revealed, if the player in question simply does business exclusively with Blizzard Entertainment and does not possess/participate in things like a social media, streaming or other such matters?

There’s the rub. It speaks to a far deeper problem, and not one of any specific players doing.

Post restored for the second time…let’s see how long it takes for it to get mass reported again by salty people who can’t handle people sharing their opinion online.

I’m of two minds on this. On one hand, purchaseable transmogs does seem like a convenient thing to spend money on from time to time, provided it’s only an occasional thing; maybe for a charity drive or something like that. And many of the mogs already in WoW do look good; even if there seems to be some creative limit given that so many sets are basically the same full coverage chest/leg slot but with different paint jobs.

On the other hand, I am troubled about the possibility of them relying on the store to make money with transmog sets that SHOULD be accessible in game. What if they do this with the Night Elf Sentinel archer armor from the War of Thorns scenario? Or the Warden armor? Or the Nightborne outfits from Suramar city? Or any number of things like that?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with store bought transmog sets within reason… but definitely there’s concern they may just start slating a lot of mogs that SHOULD be in game into the store for quick money.

The new transmog is completely 3D, more work was put into it than the entire tier sets of BFA, there’s earholes custom made for every race (something players have been asking for since blood elves were released…)

And so. You think people are going to pay for junk? There is no point in putting recolors in the store because it is just a waste of time.

However, if you think they would put those items in the game if there was no store, you are dreaming. You would get exactly the same as you do now because there would be NO incentive whatsoever to create additional stuff.

The Cash Shop concept has also been very successful in multiple other MMOs. The reason people seem to think that the argument is one sided towards people not liking it is because the group who doesn’t like it is louder than those who do, which is a common thing for most controversial topics. If you think about it, that’s just human nature… people are going to be loud about things they don’t like to try and “rectify it” where as people who are satisficed don’t feel the need to speak up because they are happy with it.

I can say other then a handful of people and mostly on forums or other forms of social media, most people I’ve talked too really don’t see a huge issue with cash shops in games. The only big things I’ve heard from people are, they don’t want cash shops to be pay to win. They want them to stay cosmetic only. And for the most part they want anything you get from the cash shop to be account wide.

Also as I believe you and others have pointed out we’ve had games both MMO and other types of titles running for years now with cash shops in place. Those titles have done just fine and have still been able to put out a good amount of content.
