Exactly, people say “WoW’s not as bad as X game” well, it’s kind of worse. We get nickle and dimed for literally everything.
Oh I know, people have been saying the same thing that I say I disagree with from the beginning yet apparently not realizing that after I say I disagree with them, they don’t need to keep saying the same thing to me over and over.
i’m glad we have people like you defending anti-consumer practices fact is all microtransactions should be removed from games asap. we pay a sub after spend money on the game therefore everything should be gotten in game by players via game play.
microtransactions are borderline illegal and its high time companies end the practice of them

These are side projects, developed by staff when they’re between major projects. They are not part of the expansion development budget, which means that the cost to make the item (in respect to staff salaries/benefits etc) needs to be recouped in some fashion.
Hence why it’s on the store.
So, then by that logic, you should also believe CE items should be rolled into the game and players who purchased them should be refunded?
Oh look, you bought the CE which is a paid benefit over something that should have just been part of the game.

well here’s the upside: you dont actually have to pay to get it. you can earn it in game via tokens or, if you are already 6month subbed, you get it free. i have only bought 1 other item since i started playing in 2003, besides this mog. and the reason i bought it was because i dont do tokens, dont pay for 6 month subs, and back when allied races were introduced, i wanted faery gnomes and faery goblins. i painted a pic of a gnome fae with sprite darter hatchling wings, as an example and posted it on the forums. alas, we got mechagnomes and vulpera instead. but i was happily surprised to see the mog, so i bought it.

Funny, mine didn’t’ come with any of those red and blue glasses.
I’m not a fan of cosmetics on the shop (I’ve never bought any) but a few items every expac has been going on for a decade.
If those items are part of the reason the monthly sub fee hasn’t changed in 16 years I’m good with it.
And despite the comment about translating it to gold being unreasonable, it is exactly true that any store item has a very easy to calculate gold value via the WoW token.
It’s literally taking away content that should be in the game and charging people for it. I mean It’s literally in-game content. Unless you’re saying if they didn’t charge us $20, they wouldn’t have ever made it?

If you want to waste your free time farming gold because you think It’s fun, that’s fine. In my OP I already stated I don’t like doing that, It’s not fun for me, it will never be fun for me and I prefer to obtain my items from doing fun activities in game.
depends on the player. i agree it would be better if those were ingame items, all of them, but they are competing against f2p mtx games that can/do make 1000s of dollars a day per player, vs. players like me in wow that might only buy 2 things from the shop over the course of 15 years.

I think it would have more to do with the fact It’s a premium sub fee that literally no other game charges that much for. Even game subscription fees that allow you to access entire libraries of hundreds of full version games don’t charge that much…
I don’t think It’s unreasonable, I just don’t find spending all my free time farming gold. I would find doing a fun darkmoon faire quest or anything better than having to waste my free time farming gold…
