Are you a Bepple zealot too ? I’ll have to ignore ya as well. Hunter use both melee and ranged, not exclusive to one. Just happen to have both but they dont equip both for game mechanic reasons.
I’m a little confused. I read this thread as a debate, and she brought up an interesting idea that rarely gets mentioned (if ever). The “Barbarian” class thing.
What am I missing? How is she “transforming everything [to conform to her] ideals only?”
It’s not that. Yes, BM can move while maintaining steady DPS, but the same cannot be said of MM.
Sorry, the Legion version was a First Attempt In Learning. The artifact ability that was channeled, in melee, on a timer, and dependent on how many stacks of Mongoose Bite you had was utter and complete dumpster fire because you could have a perfect setup and it’d be broken the second the mob moved out of range…which was often. And the explosive bomb that was part of your rotation with the targeting circle? There’s a reason that anyone who knew how to macro targeted it on themselves - it was an inconvenient button click.
Flanking strike as a baseline ability was nice, though.
Honestly nothing hurts this discussion more than needless antagonism. Not pointing any fingers, just a reminder.
I dont want melee to go. I rather enjoy it, and Ill also be the first to admit I didnt start really playing my hunter till Survival went melee. That being said, I do think the folks that loved RSV do deserve at least something in return for the spec that was lost. Do I think it should return at the expense of MSV? No, and it shouldn’t have to.
Why do we need to scrap something to bring something in? Isn’t that what started this in the first place? If MSV was slated to be removed in SL, and RSV to return in its place, it would suck.
Would it suck for less people than removing RSV did? Probably, but that doesnt make it hunky dory. If you ask me I would be 100% down if they added a 4th spec and made THAT one the melee spec, and made Survival ranged.
Make the 4th spec double down on the aspects and employing what little nature magic we can. Waywatcher, or something of that nature.
Maybe some people like the aesthetic of using a melee weapon and getting into melee range like so many hunters in history. I personally do. I love using a spear and getting into someone’s face with my pet. It’s what finally, after a dozen years, got me into the hunter class.
That’s what got me into the class as well! There’s so much I love about the aesthetic. The harpooning, the bombs, poison arrows, alternating between melee and ranged…it’s such a fun mix. I’ve left my warrior and rogue behind and switched to a hunter main because this is the most fun I’ve ever had questing.
I hope you guys understand that sentiments like these only cement the opinions of people that say melee Survival is inherently anti-Hunter. When so many of the people who stand up for the spec and its place in the class are people who self-admittedly had zero interest in the class before Legion, came from melee classes, and, to put it frankly, have minimal investment in the class even after they start playing it, that only confirms our belief that melee Survival demonstrates melee players “colonising” the class and taking a piece of it for themselves at the expense of people who were actually enthusiastic about Hunters.
Wait, am I a ranged or melee Colonist? I don’t want to pick the wrong side. From what I hear, the debates over on the Colonist board can get a little heated.
