I probably was unnecessarily wordy, and obscured my point, but the cropping at the end of your quote seems to misrepresent whst I was trying to say- not that MM and SV were too similar because of the bow- that RSV and current SV are surprisingly similar (at least in a focus on ranged-shot dot maintenance, explosive, poison burn and bleed themes) despite the bow.
I’ll admit that perhaps my perspective is limited by the type of content I engage with most, and Im probably a little wierd as well, but there are often comments in these threads- common complaints that seem contradictory.
Considering that many classes and specs undergo significant changes from expansion to expansion, I stand by my assertion that reintroducing the ranged weapon to SV without major changes to the gameplay loop is superior to 4th spec RSV and superior to completely scrapping the melee/hybrid elements. SV as a compromise spec is not only within reach, but likely would be popular going forward, considering the two biggest complaints- no ranged weapon fantasy, and dot maintenance run and gun style- would be addressed.
i disagree. melee SV gameplay is nowhere near as fluid as RSV was and that was before we had spec-specific talent trees. melee gets carried hard by 1 or 2 talents to even function well. it has the same rng focus builder mechanic as BM, which is btw the whole reason people called the specs similar pre-legion.
It is unfortunate that 2 charge KC and guerilla tactics are so superior to the other talents on their rows, and those would be the two that I would pick as well. But those arent really thematically relevant picks. They dont change the playstyle, they just make it play better and could easily be made baseline, or tuning could make them feel less necessary.
Wildfire infusion is a very good pick, but its not my favorite, and I think chakrams feels better, unless you just really love the color coded mini-game of Grenade-Hero. There is always going to be a numerically best option, especially for PvE. That happens to be Wildfire Infusion. Its fair, I think, because it takes a little more engagement than chakrams.
Normally I’m like Dawnspirit; I’m wide awake when I wake up.
However, this week was last week at school and I have a senior student who graduated tonight. So we’ve all been incredibly busy getting the graduation ready and all.
At least I hope that my answer was what you were looking for, that it can clear up some of the confusion. Although considering you haven’t responded directly, and your next post(the one I’m currently reading) does not reflect anything of the sort, I can only assume that I somehow misinterpreted what you said?
I’ll try again…
In short, it’s not just about getting a ranged version of SV back. It’s also not just about getting a version that focuses in w/e way on DoTs. Like I said before, everything matters. Letting current SV play with a ranged weapon without a 50% deficit aura, and with the ability to use for example Kill Shot, wouldn’t even come close to what it is that many are after.
For one, it wouldn’t even allow for us to run with a complete set of talents that somehow benefit a ranged playstyle. Nor would it allow for any additional depth to be applied to w/e ranged gameplay we can achieve. And also, we would essentially end up with a ranged version of Beast Mastery, just with a few DoTs, one of which is a thrown bomb, the other wouldn’t even use the weapon itself but the animated crossbow.
With this in mind, I’d argue that it deff isn’t the superior choice in terms of development and design, as opposed to for example adding a 4th spec option built around the old RSV(using it as a foundation).
Anyway, if you’re still questioning the actual intended goal, or if this somehow manages to clarify things, don’t hesitate to post a reply.
Coffee does not need sugar. All you need is a good creamer, and its sweet enough. I stop using sugar a long time ago. But as I said, you need GOOD creamer. Not that powder stuff.
Tea time is a way of life so no need to explain that one.
We need a coffee-based spec. I don’t care if it’s ranged or melee. “Smack in the face with mug of hot coffee” (Mug Smack) or “Fling mug of hot coffee” (Mug Fling) are both good.
Coffee Break: Hunter sets a trap with a steaming pot of hot coffee. Targets who trigger the trap are forced to stop and take a coffee break for 1 minute. Any damage breaks the effect.
Double Espresso: Hunter gains 30% Haste and 20% damage for 20 secs.
