Stop removing portals

your themepark game that isn’t an MMO? yeah. thanks for killing that for those of us that enjoyed the game being an ACTUAL MMORPG.

Classic is coming. Have fun?

Its not massive though. its like 100 gold, and you can just run to one of the 5 or so teleport spots in each zone in order to not have a fee at all. Like I honestly dont see how you can advocate the removal of portals in wow which lead to only specific zones and are very limited as is, and say that ESO is more immersive when talking about player convenience.

oh i will. but the problem is we used to have the game. you took it from us. so maybe you should tell those like you who like “Convenience” to stay out of the classic forums and stop trying to change classic for us k? we got like 50 threads a day from people like you.

I’d prefer to play WoW with the systems it once had and I have a right to that opinion. Sorry, you’re not going to silence or chase me or others who think like me away so easily. Doesn’t mean we’ll get our way, but we can share our opinons too.

Far as I can see its YOU that is insulting and flaming eveyone else. We are telling you that YOU dont get to tell us what WE should enjoy in OUR game. You dont seem to be able to handle that fact.

Classic forums are more of a cesspool than the general forums. I wouldn’t go near an inch of that toxic hive.

he’s not telling you what to enjoy. he’s telling you what he enjoys. just remember that the modern wow crowd turned a game that was a sandbox, mmo, rpg, into a themepark arpg that is the mess people complain about to this day.

Convenience seems to be the opiate of the toxics. Convenience kills immersion, simple as that. I’d rather have Immersion than Convenience in an RPG and it seems like you would too. Some people can’t even conceptualize that it seems.

want to know why it’s a cesspool? because we have people like you coming in trying to change classic into something it’s not supposed to be. you know, the same thing they did with retail?

No, hes been pretty adamant that WE are all being ‘childish’ in what WE like.
I read the thread, friend. Go and do likewise.

I don’t care about classic. I couldn’t care less. It’s there for you though. Have at it. lol.

well, ignore him and go enjoy your game. it is after all what you wanted.

I make extensive use of the portals in Legion Dalaran, especially for the recent holidays. I play Horde almost exclusively so this’ll all be from a Red perspective.

Legion Dalaran to Caverns of Time:

  • CoT dungeons/raids for mount/pet/transmog farm
  • Lost Rigger Cove to farm goblin town rep for Insane in the Membrane achieve

Alternatives: Uldum portal + several minute flight

Legion Dalaran to Shattrath:

  • Irrelevant as Shattrath is moving to Portal Room (nice!)

Legion Dalaran to Wyrmrest Temple:

  • Nearest to Naxxramas for transmog farm

Alternatives: New Portal Room to Northrend Dalaran + longer flight
This is the one I’m least sad about losing.

Legion Dalaran to Dalaran Crater:

  • Nearest to Hillsbrad Foothills for Metzen quest during Winterveil
  • Nearest to Ravenholdt for Insane in the Membrane turn-in
  • Nearest to Silverpine Forest for Crown Chemical Co. quest during Love is in the Air

Alternatives: Org zeppelin tower portal + longer flight (since this port requires flying to desired destinations anyway)

Legion Dalaran to Karazhan:

  • Nearest to Zul’Gurub for mount/transmog farm
  • Nearest to Blackrock Mountain for transmog farm
  • Nearest to Karazhan itself for the mount/transmog farms

Alternatives: Blasted Lands portal + longer flight (since this port requires flying to desired destinations anyway)

Legion Dalaran to Vale of Eternal Blossoms:

  • MUCH nearer to farm in Halfhill
  • Centrally located for all mount farms (Zandalari Warbringers, Salyis’s Warband, Sha of Anger, Isle of Thunder)
  • Centrally located for all raid farms (pets/transmog/etc.)

Alternative: New Portal Room to Jade Forest + flying over the entirety of Pandaria for some content (Isle of Thunder)
This is the one I’m most upset to lose, as the only thing the Jade Forest portal is convenient for is Isle of Giants, two of the Zandalari Warbringers (in different directions), and Timeless Isle.

All portals:

  • Archaeology
  • Loremaster
  • Lunar Festival
  • Roleplaying
  • Pet battle master dailies
  • Legion Artifact quests
  • Island Expedition quest turn-ins
  • Old-world mat farming (which involves enough flying anyway)
  • General cross-faction access to to opposing side’s continent

This is only what I can think of off the top of my head while standing in front of these portals and looking at the world map. The vast majority of these activities are ones that take a good deal of time to do to begin with (old dungeon/raid farming) or an already-significant amount of travel even with the portals (anything in Northrend or Pandaria, etc.); further, they’re activities I often want to do on more than one toon (holiday quests and dungeon/raid farms) which makes longer flights even worse. As has been stated in this thread many times, flying doesn’t feel active nor engaging; I have a limited amount of time to play, and would much rather spend it playing than flying any more than I have to.

THEN STOP USING FLIGHT AND THOSE PORTALS!
Arent going to, are you?
IF this were truly about immersion then YOU CAN CHOOSE NOT TO FLY OR PORTAL!

But it aint about that.

@Bornakk…Please I beg you. Stop lying. Stop pandering. Stop with the marketing/lawyer speak. It is insulting to us and just makes folks more angry then we already are.

The removal of portals is being done to add hours played to the game. This is an Activision goal. We all know that. We are not stupid. I am sure the dev team has already got plenty of data showing how long on average it takes players to go from point A to point B which is why the decision was made in the first place to remove every single portal they could find.

The real frustrating part is that the dev team dedicated hour and hours of development time to basically make the game LESS fun, fix nothing and add nothing new.

Image how excited we would be as players if all those development hours on code, art, sound, npcs and the rest was instead spent on MAKING NEW CONTENT!!!

my point being - you want us to stop trying to make retail more like classic and burning crusade. okay. fine. i’ll stop trying to change retail. the moment you get retail fans to stop trying to change classic.

Try chain portaling in ESO. Its costs multiplies. The first times its 150 gold, then its 1k gold, and then its 3k gold if you do them back-to-back. The cost decays over an hour, but it stops people from abusing it. Also, there are more aspects to Immersion than just travel. I’d prefer Classic WoW travel to current ESO travel, but current ESO travel is better than Modern WoW.

Then do it. I care about my way. It’s a way that has been in the game since Burning Crusade. The portals that don’t need to be removed at all…
