I don’t want to play Classic. I want the game and story to continue with new content, but with more Classic-style systems. Is that so hard to understand? You’re not wrong and I’m not wrong. It’s just my opinion and I have as much of a right to it as you do to yours.

Pathfinder was a great middle-of-the-road solution.

uh…no…it wasnt.
We got full blown flight in WoD. Pathfinder affected flying in NO way whatsoever. There was no middle of the road to it.
PF was a tantrum tossed back then by blizzard for the player base daring to quit over flight being removed.
That they gave full blown flight in the end = no compromise, friend. Sorry. They COULD have given flight without the immature games, but they didnt.

Sorry but the world is much bigger TODAY than it was then.
You can have your 'system’s without ticking off paying customers.
Let me guess, though…you USE those portals every day, just like you use flight.
Kinda hypocritical, if you ask me.
Stop using flight AND those portals if they bug you so much.

No I won’t. I don’t get bent out of shape over convenience items in an MMO. MMOs to me are better when Immersion>Convenience, which is why I’m playing ESO more than WoW over the last two years.

And when you have PF then flight is exactly the same as it would have been if they hadnt played infantile games with it.
There was no compromise. A compromise means BOTH sides dont get exactly what they wanted. We got full blown flight. Thats not a compromise…or a middle of the road…sorry.
That means they COULD have just let flight exist as it had existed without the petty games.

it has already been stated many times, that they will still be available for the quest lines.

So they’re going to create MORE work for themselves? They’ll have to write new code to specify when the portals will be there and when they won’t. Instead of just LEAVING THEM ALONE so they’ll be there whether someone wants to use them for the quests or to go back for t-mogs … Yeah, creating more work for yourself makes soooooooooo much sense, doesn’t it?

I do agree that it makes the world feel bigger. It is undeniably less convenient though.

convenience is a huge chunk of what has turned retail into the mess it is. it has taken the “world” out of “world of warcraft”.

Adding on again, also easy transport to the mount and mog from Onyxia’s Lair and also the piece for those late on Hivemind from Razerfen Downs. Also mog and other farming from Zulfarrak.

There is a gold penalty if you choose to do that. I’m mostly talking about immersive questing, chests, hidden things… ESO feels like a world to me. Not a big fan of its teleporting, but at least they put massive penalties on portaling places.

I think you misunderstand the context of my laughter.

“The plan” is to do something, but that just means they say they’ll do it. “The plan” was to be better about communicating with their playerbase (in 2017). “The plan” was to be better about communicating with their playerbase (in 2018).

Their plans are what they claim to intend to do, not what actually they do.

Oh, okay; I misunderstood. Gotcha now. So, basically, it’s just another installment in the story of “Nothing is written in stone, everything is subject to change.” I see. (Wish I didn’t.)

I think the disconnect is this: you can’t make this an RPG game.

Its very obvious that the real issue is that they have run out of ideas. They know current content blows. They have no idea how to make compelling content anymore. Well, except for that fantastic Drustvar witch storyline. I stayed up half the night withthat one. Couldnt put it down.
They cant make this game interesting, so to keep us subbed longer till the lights do finally get turned off they figure they’ll time gate movement itself to drag out every last penny they can.

And to think…if they just make a GOOD GAME then none of this crap would be necessary.
