I was actually hype for Chris Metzen coming back potentially for Thrall. but now I just want him to stay away as far as possible from Blizzard and this game. It’s not worthy of his presence!
Lol what did I just read? The people posting on the forums are players of this game as well. Just in case you didn’t know that.
You do get the irony there, right?
If this forum doesnt = the consensus then it very likely could be that everyone but YOU and a couple alter egos here dont like change.
Sorry…what happened when they wanted to remove CONVENIENCE back in WoD with flight?
OOOHH…thats right…people tossed fits, quit in droves and threatened to quit if they didnt actually quit.
It’ll be funny when this all goes live to see the player base response.
I’ll definitely be here with a big bag-0-popcorn.
Simple fact: porting to different expansions or continents often results in MUCH LONGER loading screens than normal.
This Portal Cleanup/Centralization means to get to most other places we have to port through not one, but TWO different continent/expansion areas… resulting in TWO “Very Long Loading Screens”.
The simplicity of a central nexus is nice, but PLEASE don’t close the back-road portal network… leave that there for those of us who enjoy being able to remember and use more efficient/direct paths to our destinations.
AND/OR: Make the portal nexus like the Druid’s Emerald Dream nexus in Legion… a small/simple/fast-loading pocket region.
Over a portal?! Come on. You’re being childish.
Hilarious that there are like 10 people who keep reposting on here over and over. It’s a very loud, but small, echo chamber. Clearly, most of the playerbase doesn’t care one way or another.
There are over 1000 more than likely, unique posts by different players against this.
That’s funny… Thought you said you were going to unsub if this goes live? Interesting…
Those same 10 people out number you here and likely out in the game world.
Again…they tried to remove our CONVENIENCE with flight in WoD…sorry…how’d that go down again?
Thats right…worst expansion to date. Massive subs lost.
“hey guys…lets remove flight, they wont mind” WRONG.
rewind
“hey guys…lets remove a bunch of portals…they wont mind”
its like Im living in a cuckoo clock around here.
Lorethelin is probably still salty over them keeping flying in the game.
heh. Id try learning to read what was actually said.
dismissing peoples concerns is childish, and if most don’t care either way, then the ones it actually effects shouldn’t be inconvenienced for the ones it doesn’t. It’s that simple, your indifference shouldn’t be more important than others who actually care.

We all know this is about two things.
- time played. Forced because the content sucks.
- Making it SEEM like the world has more people in it than it does.
Theyd have been better off shutting down low pop servers and giving free transfers to players affected than this crap.
I’m actually happy with how the achievement and flying works. I think they got it right. If I had my choice, flying would be out of the game, but its not that big of a deal either way. Pathfinder was a great middle-of-the-road solution.
With all the time spent crying in the forums, these folks could have flown around the whole world 3 times over by now. Ironic. Crying about time being wasted when here they are in a forum wasting time… Classic!

And there ya have it, folks. Thats the core reason why we dont care about missing portals.
Let me guess…you claim you dont like flight…but you use it every single time you play, dont you?
Play classic. Leave OUR game alone. Thanks.
The portal to Dragonblight helps getting to Legion’s Chromie questline.

With all the time spent removing portals, etc, classic could have been finished and you could be doing that now instead.
I am currently doing emmisaries on my toons right now, hopping over to the forums to catch up and reply during my downtime where im not playing the game because i am traveling somewhere on a flightpoint. If i had a portal to every zone in the game I wouldnt have the time to come to the forums because I would be too busy actually playing the game.
I’m not sure if this has been addressed, but I believe the problem is that we’re not acknowledging that it’s human nature that’s the big factor here. People don’t like change, for one, and they don’t like having things taken away either once they have them.
The critical problem is that the vision for the world keeps changing. Developers add portal hubs almost every expansion. I doubt anyone really thought about how those portals would affect the game down the line when they were created. I’d dare say devs still didn’t think about it even though they’d chopped up portals hubs BEFORE. And what happened before? People got upset. The vision changes from quick development convenience to a crisis of worldbuilding like the tide, back and forth.
What really needs to happen here is a “cultural moment” in which the devs decide, now and forever, to ban or accept portal hubs. They had this with flying by putting it back in through achievements late expansion. This back and forth doesn’t give players confidence that their world is persistent.
This to me is the underlying problem. I hope it helps the teams.
These kind of “shouldn’t the world feel bigger” threads always make me bang my head on the keyboard.
No, they don’t make the world feel bigger: you could not possibly make WoW less immersive than by taking away gates. Because I just hop a griffin and read the internet, which is surely the least immersive experience in the game.
If my sucking up bandwith somehow makes you money, OK, than your decisions makes sense. Otherwise, you are just annoying your customers for no really good reason.
I think the disconnect is this: you can’t make this an RPG game. You gave up on that in the beginning, since our decisions have very little impact on the game world. And besides, there are 10,000 heroes on my server: which means I’m not really a hero, am I?
MMOs should probably worry about what gets the players into action quicker.
