They worked with Blizzard for 2 years, gathered information from their HR and payroll departments, tried to settle with Blizzard but Blizzard wanted too many concessions from the state for them to accept.
Totally just a couple bad actors and what a few people said…
You’re probably the type to misuse the phrase “a few bad apples spoils the bunch” in support of things like this.
No I dont. They are so brainwashed with a radical agenda. I dont believe they think at all.
They react or over react to the slightest accusation.
They say groping happened. Thats a crime. Where are the arrests? There are none and will never be none. Its all about money and California is bleeding it by the billions. Blizzard is an easy target. This whole thing is a big money grab
At Vivendi in the end, the employees were backstabbing eachother and forming alliances to retain their jobs or get promos at the expense of others or so I have heard. So yes, I agree with you.
Sensitive? More like extremely annoyed and the lack of brain cells people have yet they want to spew some nonsense like “dont quit your job if you are being harassed” bs.
The game design community is a very tight, well connected group. A lot of developers, even after they leave a company, stay in contact with their friends and associates who remained in the company etc. So just ‘leaving’ doesn’t really help when it comes to speaking up.
A person who orchestrates abuse at the top, can easily blackball a worker, destroying their ability to get jobs elsewhere in the industry because they exploit their connections. We saw this in Hollywood, which is a much larger industry, with people like Harvey Weinstein blackballing actresses like Mira Sorvino, preventing her from landing major roles, all because she refused to sleep with him.
The threat of intimidation and retaliation doesn’t end the moment they leave the workplace. Not in Hollywood and not in game dev.
Additionally, a lot of staff sign NDAs where they cannot discuss what happens at their workplace to outside sources. These NDAs don’t end the moment they leave either. The NDAs remain in place and are enforceable with harsh legal penalties, which a lot of these abused employees don’t need or want to deal with.
No, it doesn’t, but as you should very well know by now if you’ve paid any attention to this, the police rarely, if ever, take cases of sexual harassment seriously.
And in the event that they do, they’ll reach out to the company, and what will the company do? Deny it to protect their image. The police then have to decide if they want to pursue it and in most cases they don’t because of a lack of evidence.
It’s like you just crawled out from under a rock or something, you clearly know nothing about this or the impact of it on individuals.
This is not a criminal case though. You are comparing it to that and saying I am daft?
It’s like you assumed my whole history, but really not expecting less from you. I am a 40 year old mother of 2 who works for a mining company in purchasing. I have seen this happen often, been the victim to a lesser extent. My post is merely stating that the people coming out in support years later to get their 15 minutes are just as culpable in my eyes.
its not that they dont know anything…its more that they dont CARE.
Their GAME is more important than human beings.
And the human race becomes more and more psychotic and antisocial by the minute.
Exactly.
and think about this.
IF the gent you are responding to were the man with the power…with his attitude, dont you think he’d do EXACTLY what youre talking about here?
No doubt about it.
I can’t be bothered. Carry on supporting apologists who did nothing to help in the moment, it’s a great way to make change happen! Give em a good ole clap on the back and say well at least you tried now!
Victims do…perpetrators too.
Honestly I rarely get into this believeallwhateverism…but I believe every word of every accusation on this one…AND a lot of it is based on the companies response. It screamed “WE’RE GUILTY, BUT…”
