Stop Frost Novaing in dungeons

You should Frost Nova in certain circumstances and in others you should not. Many skills from many different classes and specs are situational. The basic rules to a dungeon for DPS are

  1. Don’t pull (leave that to the tank)
  2. Manage DPS AGGRO (so you don’t pull from the tank)
  3. Don’t stand in front of the tank and DPS (You’re not a tank)

Exceptions can always be made depending on the goal of the group. In full Spell Cleave groups tanks are not even there so frost nova is your friend.

In a normal group If a mob is running away into another pack then by all means Frost Nova to save the group a wipe. If the mobs are all running to the priest or devouring the priest then please DO Frost Nova. If the tank cannot handle his and the mobs come for you then please Frost Nova but remember to manage your own aggro so you don’t pull from the tank.

Why do tanks run into 5 mobs and only hit 1 for like 20 seconds straight?

Frost Nova -> Cone of Cold is such a waste when you could be pulling off double AoE shatter combos by going Frost Nova -> Flamestrike - Cone of Cold instead. :sunglasses:

Um… but that’s exactly what it does, it’s in the name. Maybe in some definition in your head it doesn’t.

There are varying degrees of CC, yes (hard cc, etc) but it’s all CC and CC is meant to CONTROL what the mobs/players are doing and how you fight them, even if that means slowing and kiting, because yes, Slowing is a form a CC.

I’ve played wow since vanilla CC always refers to taking a mob out of the fight. I’m sorry that this is difficult to grasp english is complicated

By your definition crippling poison is now a CC and that’s where I end this discussion because it’s basically trolling

Crippling poison is a VERY limited form of CC though, if there’s a hierarchy of CC, crippling is at the bottom, but that doesn’t make it NOT CC.

Controlling the mobs, where they go, and what they do is a huge part of CC, without Crippling CC then that running humanoid in BRD just pulled 2 more packs and wiped you, you CONTROLLED the CROWD

Changing things is in contradiction to the no changes and thus they can only work within a small build window/ use values from their tables that seem like the final tweaks. Correct is subjective here. All patches could be considered the correct one because its all from Vanilla. the numbers at that start could be way over tuned.

So basically the game was harder than it should have been because they didn’t have 2 years worth of testing.

We’re in phase 1 therefore changes made in 1.12 shouldn’t be made to a game existing in its pre BWL state ie patch 1.4

What you’re basically saying is you want changes so please don’t come at me with the “no changes” justification

On the contrary private servers have been around for years they’ve done far more testing than blizzard ever has

and what you are asking for is for the game to be changed every patch not dynamically but simply because it was changed and not why it was changed. you could then say, "oh better do this in phase 3 because its not doable in phase 1 and hard in phase 2 , easy in phase 3 but back to hard in phase 4.

im saying bliz did NOT have 2 years of testing BEFORE they released. which is WHY it MIGHT be over tuned. saying Private servers had MORE time is only making that gap wider. further as stated. they made changes.

and if they used everything exactly as it was released when released there would be countless bugs that would have to be fixed, but only when they had last fixed them. The talent tree would get changes made to them at various phases. starting off with things that were broken until they reached their final incarnation. welp better not roll that class. its not viable until X phase.

Wow. Glad my guild is a lot more friendly, then. Frost Nova is a survival skill. Using it wrong and the entire party wipes? Sure, that sounds like a reason to kick someone. Just using it once to survive in a raid and get kicked? Glad I don’t play in your guilds.

Thanks.

That’s the idea. But blizzard obviously doesn’t care enough about the game to even do progressive item patching let alone progressive mob values

They went over that option in an interview. something about it not making sense to intentionally make all the same mistakes and release an inferior version just so they could change it again and again until it was corrected.

I love threads that start out like a job application.
