What CR do they become valuable?
Simple question, 
any cr, get used to having that available to you as you gain rating

Just be aware of what you macro it to, so its not something you end up spamming too easily.
I’ve always just strafed to cancel unless it’s like Scorch and can be casted while moving.
You don’t need them ever I think? Can just move to cast.
When I use stop casting macros I’ve noticed I get kicked because I start casting right away, moving for like 0.1 seconds seems roughly how long it takes to juke a kick.
Like maybe there are multi r1’s who stare at your character to see if you move in a way that’s more visible than your cast bars going away, but I haven’t observed that really.
You should get a stopcasting macro for the hunt though that’s useful.
Only reason I really have a stopcasting macro is for penance which is channeled, if my target is about to get cc’d or if someone lands a mindgames on me midcast.
