could probably solo defend an entire bunker from the horde lol
For me, it’s usually 1 win for every 5 losses … sigh. People need to learn how to min max afk. Afk in a bunker or a gy if you already see 20 people afk at aid station.
But I guess there’s no youtube video or website on how to afk efficiently.
Yeah it’s annoying.
It wouldn’t be so bad if the horde actually won when they turtle. You could atleast understand it then but the fact they even lose while turtling all it becomes is a colossal waste of time for everyone involved and delaying the inevitable.
Thats what im doing right now.
ive just started juggling afks now. just afked out of a 61-70 cuz horde were hellbent on turtling despite the fact that they were losing horrifically by literally half the resources. instead of trying to recap their gys and push, they just kept chasing alliance across the map for pks. now im on another character in a perfectly fine match lvling about to win and those losers are probably still fighting it out for another 200 resources for almost no xp and honor. i dont understand why people enjoy wasting their own time so much

71-79 AV is literally a blast.
I cannot adequately describe how much fun it is to defend a bunker against hordes of enemies or to go 1v4 or 1v3 and just romp.
Other 70-79 BGs are pretty fun too.
71-79 AV is much more fun than 80 AV because the NPCs hit hard enough that the objectives matter. 80 AV is such a faceroll at this point that it’s become total garbage.
In 71-79 AV, few teams can skip a tower (and those that can typically are able to skip just 1), so the objectives are the ballgame.
Not sure which bracket you’re talking about, but this toon is currently running a 58% AV win rate (nearing 200 AVs played mostly in the 71-79 bracket).
I’m levelling now so I’m not 60 anymore and while class balance isn’t ideal at 60 in Wotlk I managed some amazing back caps, mostly through luck but you know, that’s how it is sometimes. Tower point held by myself for 15 minutes as the alliance just goes into the tower one at a time and gets picked off, didn’t leave until like 7 of them come at once.
Recall to FW keep, kill the 1-2 people watching flags and repeatedly backcap the two towers and relief hut, wouldn’t be possible if 10 of them weren’t afk on noob hill but you know.
I do get smashed by paladins though, warriors are rough, I could kill up to tier 2.5 but it can go either way really quick.
Av can be super fun sometimes or super boring depending on how you play it.
But now I’m 62 and at the bottom of the totem pole and have to work my way to the top again. I am excited to get some new talent points though.

Yeah it gets fun as you get power and the ability to really change matches as a single player close to the 70/79 max levels in the bracket (78 crafted gear is a quick boost for high 70s).
80 is really where AV goes to die given the NPCs are so trivial at that level (and will only get even more trivial as the expansion ages).
Below 80, a single player in the right area/objective can have a huge impact on the game and can be the difference between a win and a loss.

I know and it’s such a shame, alot of my fondest pvp moments happen to be from AV but it’s a sad time when only like 10 people want to pvp. I want to duel other rogues and ferals on flag fights and get stuck in, in this huge battleground but nowadays everyone just picks a bunker or tower and peacefully waits for it to burn.
I know and understand why people want to push through the grind as fast as possible but it makes the whole experience so dull.
I’m looking forward to 70 so I can hunker down for a bit and grind some Honorable kills.

I hear you, so many of my best memories from wow are from original vanilla/TBC and classic vanilla/TBC in AV.
WOTLK 80 AVs are such a bad situation right now with the NPCs hitting geared 80s like a feather tickles.
For people that really like AV, I highly recommend making a 79 twink. It really is the closest thing to old style AV given the NPCs are appropriately tuned to make the objectives matter.
You can go and force PVP battles in the towers since you’ll have the strength to take on groups of people.
There are two type of alliance av players.
Av player one.
Av player two.

What I’m doing is part of the game, I’m denying horde a win by back capping our first 2 bunkers.
Delays them by a few minutes which means it’s an auto win for my side.
yea… ppl in av aren’t trying to win as much as they just want honor, exp or rep. sure what you do is theoretically correct but in practice no one cares.
Sure they care.
It takes no more time to back cap than to not back cap.
I’m helping my team win in the same amount of time which gets us more XP/hour by reducing the chance that horde has to win.
This shouldn’t have to be explained to you.
Oh, i know. But its funny seeing the divide. The “afk to win” people hate when people backcap because it makes the game take just a little bit longer and they hate it, even if it means a win.
