Never experienced a situation in Classic where mobs targeted me when I was in stealth while in an instance group doing dungeons. Is there something wrong with stealth currently giving all mobs information as to whom is in the group causing everyone to be in combat even if they didn’t attack nor support/heal a friendly? Finding myself targeted by mobs who are 20yards+ away freely casting into me (Even at times doing complete 180s to just cast at me).
If you do not have master of deception even level 58 NPC will be hard to sneak on as a level 60.
If you don’t have master of deception every level above yours makes you more and more a targetable player while not in combat.
If you need sap, use distract to do this or you will be seen.
If you’re having issues with vanish that’s a different problem; that’s the vanish buff delay / drop combat delay bug.
So mobs are working as intended by targeting players who haven’t engaged in combat with the enemies? I can understand seeing me through stealth and attacking me if they’re not engaged with anyone but, this is already pulled mobs by a tank to a designated spot. This is in reference to the Mantas who spam fear continually and it’s a bit annoying to be a target from such a distance while stealthed while not engaging them yet.
The way I play my rogue in stealth is similar to how it was when I played metal gear solid. There is a big cone in front of the mobs and if I get inside it, they’ll see me.
Yes, especially if they are rooted. If the mob can detect you and is rooted and you’re there in stealth they will attack.
Additionally some mobs are warrior class and have shouts that can break stealth also.
The horrify the rays cast has no special target requirements that I know of, but if you’re detectable then you’re on the threat list and also targetable.
You can counter this a bit by using distract before the pull and get closer before your group is in combat.
Optionally you can sacrifice some DPS and pick up MoD so that stealth doesn’t suck so bad.
Okay, maybe it’s just the spell decision tree doesn’t have a threat based mechanic attached to it and does it randomly. So any known player is just targeted rather than anything logically based currently in WoW.
I’ve had mobs do complete 180s(Mantas) just to cast fear at me while I was stealthed well aways from them to just test it out. Kinda crazy how they’re given that much information or their stealth detection is really that high.
Oh we just pull 40+yards back because the GCD spellcast time fears throws people way out of bounds so it’s potentially pulls people. Maybe that time(4-5 seconds just to position for the tanks) during that pull is giving the mobs more information than I think it’s giving.
If you’re level 60 doing SP they are going to see ya from probably 15 yards putting you on the target list. (Without master of deception / 5 yards with)
Think the cast time on that horrify is 1/2 second, it can be kicked, gouged, blinded and stunned. With those rays and the champions I like to go CC mode and lock them down while the other DPS Zugzug them down quick.
Level hasn’t updated I’m 64 so I’m a lvl or two above them.
Ok, but no master of deception right? Full PvE combat?
If so that’s a rough life in dungeons. IMO it’s worth the 5 points for better stealth, tho the boots of displacement, the gem cutters panther trinket and cloak enchant do an excellent job also if you’re unwilling to change talents.
5/5 mod is 15 stealth
Trinket is 5 stealth
Cloak enchant is 5 stealth
Boots of displacement are 8 stealth
That’s another way to handle the problems of pure PvE combat / mut builds.
