The last time I did battlegrounds was MOP, and I have little to no knowledge of how the current state of pvp is. How are bgs right now? Is balance better now compared to the older expansions? Is it more bursty now? Is chain CC still as prevalent as before? Etc.
I think theyâre great right now, Iâm having more fun in PvP right now than a long time. But this is a subjective question regarding tastes, so different people will answer it differently.
Than which expansion? Itâs better than some and worst than some. IMO itâs alright. Most classes have at least one spec that is top tier, not all tho. And the difference between a top tier spec and a bottom tier one is pretty large, but there are lots of top tier specs. So in some ways it is balanced well and in some ways itâs not.
Yes. Itâs burstier now than in a long time, probably since MoP. But IMO I like that. I much prefer burstier than crazy slow like we had in BFA. It feels good to hit your class abilities and actually see their hp bars go down significant amounts.
Oh yes. As always in PvP landing a CC chain and killing is still the name of the game.
I read that DRs have been reworked to make it so that a lot of CCâs are now in the same category compared to before. (I personally think this is a great change. I remember it was possible to chain CC for more than 30 secs which is honestly just crazy) Didnât you feel its impact?
Thought this solution would fix the problem, but I still see a lot of complaints about CC chains, or are they just exaggerating?
Yeah this was a while ago, in WoD if I recall correctly. Yeah it did help a bit, but there are still 6 different categories of CC, 3 of them being full loss of control (stun, disorient, incap) so there are still more than enough CCs out there to set up long chains.
This is a thing that will always be complained about. Even if there was only stuns in the game thereâd be people moaning about sitting a 6 sec stun. It just feels bad to be sitting there, unable to play your character, while your or your teammates get wailed on. On the flipside tho, few things in PvP are as satisfying as coordinating and perfectly executing a CC chain with your teammates, so itâs a tradeoff.
Maybe for you! I played some last night and a premade team with 3 Firemages and a Boomie were literally erasing us. Mages with 34,000 hp using PVE gear and trinkets!
A fresh level 60, 4 weeks into a new expansion is 10-15k hp below the current content pushing player.
They canât 1v1 anyone unless they find someone else that is their iLeveL (Very rare since even arena no lifers need BGs to upgrade gear), they will also die within every global CD, and will be mostly fodder for overtuned classes who are practicing their one shot macros.
The only solution anyone can give you is âtough it outâ which is translation for âunsubscribe because this isnât going to get any betterâ.
A fresh alt has always gotten smacked in bgs till theyâre geared. Except legion with itâs templates this is just how it goes in an RPG where gear matters. Nothing new to SL.
Or⌠it means âtough it out till you get gearââŚya know how the game has always worked.
If you want a game with a perfectly even playing field, this ainât it chief. This is an RPG. A game about making a character and building up their strength over time as you explore the game content.
Even back in the day with resilience PvP gear this was true. I remember quing on alts back in Cata and getting absolutely destroyed, till I geared up then I started destroying. Thatâs the beauty of it IMO. You see that big dick on the enemy team smashing fools and think âomg thatâs awesome, I want to do thatâ which motivates you to make your characters stronger. I guess some folks see it and get discouraged tho, in that case yeah, unsub this game ainât for you.
Sorry but WoW isnât even an RPG anymore given how many times theyâve butchered the lore and story to give us half baked expansions.
The only role you play in this game is to spend as much time as you can in it in order to make Blizzard as much money as possible, every other excuse you can think of is a mental gymnastic you jumped through in order to make your time feel more valued when in reality youâre time is being monetized.
Nobody in this current day and age has the patience to no life a game that has a dead PvP eSports scene and an even more disconnected developer who doesnât properly update the game either.
The only people that support rating locked gear or this meta are the same people that werenât a part of the Shadowlands beta because if they were a part of that beta, theyâd realize that nearly every system in this expansion was disliked and people wanted to see things balanced better but they decided to ship out an unfinished expansion to boost pre order sales which only caters to white knights and mindless consumers who will buy anything with a recognizable franchise attached to it.
Remember, just because this is the fastest selling expansion doesnât mean it wonât become the fastest unsubscribed expansion as well.
It takes a week or more for a new player to just get up to 184 iLevel PvP gear doing BGs due to how ridiculously gear driven this expansion is, literally everyone they fight at 20k HP will be against people with 33k HP so not only will they be useless for their team but most rational people will simply not participate anymore given how absolutely stagnant the PvP growth is for anybody who doesnât have 10+ hours to play a day.
Ok⌠sounds like you are just incredibly sour to the game and Blizz. Yeah, maybe unsubbing is the way to go if thatâs how you see the game.
For myself Iâm having a blast.
Higher rating giving better gear isnât new⌠have you played this game for long? Your complaining about SL adding a bunch of things that arenât even remotely new to SL.
I have half a dozen guildies who were all in the beta, a few playing quite extensively, they are loving SL. Have you ever considered perhaps thatâs just your opinion and not some fact of the universe?
Because renown is stupid easy and fast to get, and has had a robust catch-up built in since day one.
I mean⌠this is just objectively false. It does not take anywhere near 10 hours a day, gimme a break my dude. I have a full time job, and a social life, I donât play anywhere near 10 hours a day, I have a main at 201 and an alt at 188. Itâs really not that hard to gear up. Itâs certainly a damn sight better than BFA.
Not true. If new players only interested in PvP have been leveling via battlegrounds, theyâll have honor to buy a full set of gear plus several upgrades. It does not take 10 hours a day to get enough honor to upgrade your gear.
PvP gearing is stupid easy, and much better than previous expansions - with the exception of Legion which had templates - but by the end youâd have people with 15-20+ ilvls on you so they were 15%+ above you anyway.
I donât know where you are getting your figures from but if itâs taking you 10 hours a day to get enough honor to upgrade a full set of gear, youâre doing something very, very wrong.
You do great at answering yourself, weâre almost at the point where you can see logic and reasoning but iâm sure Blizzard could release a 15 minute black screen for an expansion and youâd pre-order it and defend it.
Aside from your mindless consumerism, the problem here isnât how many suckers like you it takes to sell an unfinished expansion rather the situation here is that the game at the moment only favors players who spend an unreasonable amount of time on this game.
This is the first expansion where a casual player cannot gear to the same gear as the guys who do Arena content.
The casual player couldnât get that high end CP gear as fast as the Arena guy, but they can eventually get it which created an incentive but now youâre making everyone do Arena for gear when PvP is in the worst state itâs ever been in.
Bgs are fun,
Personally iâd do a few epics if youâre queueing alone just to get some base honor gear and once a day victory for the 65 conq and then go into randoms and never look back. Its rough at the start due to ilvl diff but once youâre in 184 gear and get your 2000 conq from catchup you wonât notice a difference
