State of BGs in SL?

You guys took the bait.

Now he doesn’t make a positive word. :man_shrugging:

…do you even play the game? I assume so as you’re posting on an account, but you’re able to gain conquest points without doing arena or rated content.

550 conquest points a week is the current cap.

40 per day for normal bgs x 7 = 280
65 per day for epic bgs x 7 = 455
() 40 per day for brawls x7 = 280 + the weekly brawl quest = 65
(
) any weekly quests to collect honor in bgs, epics, arenas, skirmishes another 100 x2
(**) 50 conquest for slaying a bounty in War Mode (not included in figures below)

= 1280 conquest for doing casual activities and gives players access to ilvl 200 gear, which is perfectly reasonable for people only doing casual content.

Before you come back, the above doesn’t take 10 hours a day either.

Ahh my #1 fan girl arrived right in time to link my old post to get me even more views and likes, sometimes I don’t know what i’d do without people like you supporting my opinions and thoughts.

Here’s the current OP in case you missed it over frantically searching through my posts for my old opinions:

Your “old” opinions of 15 days ago!? LUL

You went from “the best the games ever been” to “it’s terrible, blizz is just greedy bastards and anyone saying anything positive is a fanboy” in two weeks? Ok dude.

Definitely falling on the side of this is a troll.

This is not even the point of my comment.

Who cares if you can earn 10,000 conquest in 10 seconds if you can’t spend it on any meaningful upgrades without forcing yourself to do content that you don’t want to.

Not everyone who PvPs wants to do Arena, and not everyone who does Arena wants to be the best at it. They want gear because it’s gated behind it, other then Blizzard forcibly making people do this content, no one else cares about it.

WoW PvP averages the lowest viewer count on every major streaming platform, the only PvP videos that anyone watches are 1 shot guides for their class due to how unbalanced the meta is and most of the sponsors have moved to actual eSports titles that actually brings in more than 10 viewers.

Doubling down on the small playerbase for PvP by gating all the best gear behind it is a surefire way to go from the fastest selling expansion to the fastest unsubscribed expansion.

Ok, convinced that guy is trolling now so @Quivèr if you want the opinion of people who actually play in battlegrounds, gearing is smooth and simple. The pace of combat is a little fast for me but a lot of people seem to like this current damage level.

By doing only casual content (no rated) you can get 1000+ conquest each week. That will buy you ilvl 200 gear, which is equal to normal raiding. That gear will be more than sufficient if the only content you wish to do is casual battlegrounds.

By stepping foot into rated, you can get other gear pieces tied to your rating, up to mythic raid levels.

Ding ding ding. Now you see it.

Sure. And that’s totally fine, play the game how you want. But you can’t expect to be given the exact same rewards as those who are trying hard to push rating.

Would you expect LFR to give the same gear as mythic raiding? Should normal dungeons give the same gear as a +10?

The harder content does, and should, give better rewards.

You talk a lot of trash for someone with an active wow subscription.

To answer the OP’s question - BGs are pretty fast paced with damage being quite bursty from specs like Ret Paladins, Boom Chickens, and Fire Mages. If you’re still leveling get in some pvp now to have honor when you hit 60.

With that said, honor gains at 60 are some of the most generous at his been in a long time. You will get base gear quickly and then upgrading costs are also really generous. Also while you’re earning honor you will also be earning small amounts of conquest for wins that you can then spend on 200 ilvl gear.

All in all BGs are in a good place.

Btw you mentioned earlier back in wrath when you dinged and were fresh. I remember the grind of being total garbage without your resili set. It was just a known fact even back then that fresh alts would join Random BG’s and have to deal with poor performance and getting their faces smashed in.

Those were the days.

Doing rated at a high level gives you weapon illusions, mounts, title that no one else can get.

The only thing that casual players had that made the game fun was the sense of progression of getting the best PvP gear, but now the high rated players were tired of having exclusive rewards so they wanted inclusive rewards of having the best gear only allotted to them and their rating so now the majority of players who do NOT care about Arena are forced into playing it.

Oh yeah for sure, you’d get absolutely smashed. But for most that was just motivating to then get geared so you can do the smashing.

I remember hearing Bajheera talk about this on his stream a while ago, after templates where removed. It kinda stuck with me. A viewer was arguing that templates should have stayed, precisely due to what we are talking about, new toons getting smashed. He said “to make it in WoW pvp you need to have a warrior mentality”, which he explained meant getting motivated by getting owned rather than discouraged. In PvP there will always be a moments where you get owned and it feels unfair. Whether it’s them outgearing you, their class countering yours, them having a teammate to help, or just simply getting outplayed. It’s going to happen, it’s just a matter of how you respond to it. If you fall into despair and start throwing blame around you’ll never last long in PvP, because there will never be a point in this game where you win every encounter. Even the best players in the game lose sometimes.

I dunno, the wording of “warrior mentality” is a bit cringe, but I liked the concept he was saying there.

Everything I said is backed by facts.

The only trolls here are the ancient dinosaur PvP players who can’t accept the fact that their scene is all but dead and the constant imbalance and now the rated gear lock is only going to make the divide worse between the elitist and casual.

It’s a very real issue that a mindless consumer wouldn’t understand so it makes sense why the truth comes out as a troll, but there are far more casuals than players who take this game seriously so just remember that before you suggest forcing players who don’t want to do content to go and do it.

100% agree.

I also think people had an understanding that random BG’s were not balanced. You have no control over the players who join the game. You could be matched with very super casual people who don’t even turn properly and backpedal, or you could be matched up with much better players.

Random BG’s are Random. If you want to be on a even playing field where you are matching up gear/skill level from the MMR system, rated is where you go.

People are taking random BGs way too seriously now imho.
