It’s always an issue but gear this go around seems to spike real hard.
560ilvl from AH gear and I have about 3M less health than people with full PVP greens.
There’s nothing fun about getting one shot until you get enough honor to buy the start set of PVP gear. Not for me, not for my team. The whole system is just broken and it’s only going to get worse once season 1 starts.
Imagine if Normal and Heroic dungeons didn’t exist and the only way to gear up and not get one shot was to slowly die your way through mythics.
PVP would likely invite a lot more people to play it if the starting experience on every character wasn’t so bad.
I always make sure to keep queuing bg’s on any char I level so they get an honor set as soon as they hit 80. It would be nice if they just made comp stomp a permanent thing that rewards honor so people can use that as their entry points.
There is gear that you can get without Honor, you can get it from the AH, or, if you don’t have that much gold, get it crafted. So Honor gear is more like step 3 in the ladder to conquest.
As in:
Crafted/AH gear. You can also wear the trinkets from this gear from level 70.
The reason why its so bad right now isn’t really the gear. It’s that you are facing fully geared premades on comms playing entry level PvP in a hardcore manner. Some are only doing it because the season hasn’t started yet and others are doing it because they can’t play without an unfair advantage. It just sucks that its pushing new PvPer’s away
its insane that babies on the forum are upset they cant just buy gear and be on a level playing field. you can get full honor gear in like two or three sessions if youre casual. an epic bg is like 2 pieces without the 1k honor quests attached to them. you people are delusional.
Gearing is pretty easy in its current state. But I can for sure see how it is frustrating to start off when you’re behind, much worse later on in the season when everyone is conquest geared. It isn’t fun to be useless just because someone else has been afk in bgs or lost more rbgs than you. I personally don’t understand why we still have to grind out pvp sets, beyond making sure that Blizzard gets paid at least.
Before someone replies “BUT YOU’RE PLAYING A MMO…” Shut up, go slay a dragon if you want gear progression. Pvp is more fun when the playing field is level. Only bad players who need gear as a crutch think otherwise.
To get the honor gear for my Hunter, I bought AH set, then used my hunter to honor gear my Paladin without playing it, a few more hours of Hunter play and my mage or dk will have full honor gear and then the next one. In like two weeks playing a couple hours a day 5 80s will have full honor gear…
But yeah, going into a BG with gear you got leveling, some from being level 77, you’re getting your teeth kicked in, would not recommend. Gear what you know you like and play it to have honor to transfer to alts, then you never have to pvp without honor gear on an alt.
And many folks I would imagine are playing the spec they are best at while earning honor for their alt army like I’m doing.
Some of us bought every 6k gold-26k gold enchant we can wear and are ready to start earning conquest and crafting max I Lev pvp gear with embellishments. It is a bit of an arms race, even augment runes and expensive other consumables are being used to gain an edge. In non-rated play tons of expensive consumables can be used. Fighting someone like that, who brought their 4 friends on coms with them (or more if they are a queue sync pos) wont feel good for a new or undergeared player. Its a challenge for a solo player with BiS gear.
As my mother would say, “better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick”.
If I recall correctly, there was no scaling before BGB.
No, no I can’t. It’s called Aphantasia.
Why are we comparing a battleground where people flounce in with PvE gear and their PvE rotations/talents to a competition where the combatants spend countless hours honing their skills?
Yeah so new characters will get 1 shot in the 70-79 bracket since people have past pvp gear still so it makes it impossible to gain honor while you level, unless you like not having fun
