Has anyone else noticed the starting bottleneck is almost unplayable? I don’t want to get too much into the details here, but tis pretty awful.
There have been a few posts on it, but it appears 3 layers are simply not enough to stop a game breaking bottleneck in play. This has happened on both stress tests now, and if these are anything remotely close to launch, we have legit 200-300 people running around in each layer the first few quests and you can’t get any mobs, even in a group. Both stress tests my grp has sat on a spawn point or run around tagging a mob, but it’s been ghastly. It really sucks the fun out of it all.
Will try to link some posts with more detail explaining things.
What do you guys think? This def wasn’t what I experienced in vanilla launch, there were never that many people all in one spot even in the most crowded servers.
Edit
did watch the vido of asmon saying he couldn’t tag any mobs and it was impossible to do anything last night, he quit trying to level
Edit on 6/6: The bottleneck questing problem seems to be creating an entirely new meta on the beta, which is forcing people to grind mobs and dungeons if they want decent experience. It’s impacting the vanilla feel and experience.
Yes but also remember this stress test only had a certain amount of invites, which means this may be representative of an actual server. This was a fraction of the people who will actually be playing TheDies.
And people couldn’t log in. My friends started release day and had to dump their start characters and move to another server when they opened it up the next day because it was unplayable.
I would guess these stress tests are also used in gaining data to determine how many servers and layers they will need at launch. I really wouldn’t worry about it right now because this is what the testing is for.
Imagine there are “innocents souls” still saying no “channel systems” lol.
Without channels every quest will take you 35-40 mins… With a proper channel system a “Level-UP” quest should take not more than 10 minutes
Channel system should work like this: 10 - 15 Channels then you pick the one you wish to play with a 60 seconds cooldown to avoid the “exploits things”
I tried going through Shadowglen, just farming mobs instead of questing, but it was hard to find mobs. Then I switched over to Deathknell, where I had better luck but it was still very tedious, especially on a few quests where the casters easily tagged mobs (rip melee levelers). I was able to finish it all eventually, and made it to Brill. Only thing I’m mad about is the guy who stole my chest while I killed the mobs around it.
That’s a good point. Unfortunately we need to make sure it’s right on launch, if they underestimate things it will literally be a disaster for days in the starting zones, and probably even the next zones too.
you might want to wait a little bit before starting. Don’t depend on others to let you get kills. Don’t depend on Blizz to install some game changing thing. Just wait a little bit.
nah, make a raid of 39 others and run to the lvl 6-8s and mow them down, wouldn’t be the best xp, but would be an acceptable amount to pull ahead possibly
